We always joke that a group of young men would be more productive shooting the rats around here with a pellet gun than shooting pixels on PlayStation.

air rifle = misdemeanor with high likelihood of being ignored.
There are a lot of good pre-charged pneumatic (pcp) rifles available today. Pumps are just a lot of trouble for that situation.

I used to shoot squirrels in deer feed while hunting. I know it would work well on sewer rats because it would drop the shite out of tree rats.
