Lane & Sexton had to burn some bridges at OM today

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure OM will be good with Lane staying… but professionally he gave OM a big “F you” today.

That’s hard to reconcile behind closed doors, and I’m sure there is some resentment.

It’s wild to have the school you are currently married to asking for a commitment and your response is to then fly your family to the competitors and then have your agent smoke screening and dispensing info left and right.
All the while you’re tweeting lovey dovey OM stuff.

I know if I did this to my boss.. it would be tough to look them in the eye again and think they would trust me fully.

Lane has all the leverage here and he and Jimmy both know it.

Are you the best employee in the history of your company? Honestly, he’s the best coach they’ve had in 50 years. Lane is a once in a lifetime coach for Ole Miss. They can’t really do anything like make demands or give ultimatums. Nobody trusts Sexton and Lane either for that matter, lol.

If Ole Miss is ok pulling their extension offer and letting him walk, how much leverage do they really have over Ole Miss?

After I saw what he did to the Tennessee program, nothing surprises me about him.

Yeah and if they want to fire him, go for it.

That “if” is doing some mighty heavy lifting.

Ole Miss administration can definitely do that, but you lose the best coach you’ve had in the last 50 years. He is literally the reason for your success. Anyone you hire will be a step down. There is no evidence you will find another Lane Kiffin in your lifetime.

Why? If it’s pretty well known Lane has one foot out the door, make the decision easy on him, pull our offer then go get someone else. You can’t let someone hold you hostage past the point of getting a decent replacement

I really don’t know what ole miss is thinking

Don’t put up hard line when you have zero leverage other than “he’s a jerk if he leaves in a playoff year”

Ole Miss administration is smart enough to know what’s going on. They won’t force Lane to do anything.

If he doesn’t sign an extension before the Egg Bowl, that pretty much tells you he was planning on leaving anyway. So don’t let him hold you hostage and go find his replacement.

Lane is leaving OM

Looks like LSU right now but I'm not convinced

If he were staying he'd sign the extension and quash all the rumors and distractions to keep his team focused

Because you’re stupid if you kick him out before he actually leaves. He’s the only one who has made your program relevant. Ever. It’s all negotiation tactics. You’ll take him in with loving arms

Well, first off you lose buyout money.
Second, you help out the lsu/florida timeline. Third, you are absolutely closing the door on the greatest coach youve had. Removing the glimmer of hope you have

Another silly alternative, but it is silly season, is that OM is in on all of this.

I don’t believe that, but things are just too perfect it seems.

Regardless, you have to think each school is about to say “we need a decision by___”
