He's already got NC State in the top 25, and they have a better basketball tradition than we do. Maybe one day, but as long as he wins in Raleigh it will be hard to pry him loose.

I’m not sure if you meant this as an insult or not, but the majority of us would love for that to be the case lol.

Why would you leave a better job to go to a place that treated you poorly?

There is zero chance Will Wade is leaving NC State to come back to LSU

His super sycophants are wild to me. I LOVED the Pear and his time in Baton Rouge. My son and I had some good times watching his teams together. I wish him success. But there are some folks who literally think he is the only human out of the 8 billion on Earth that can be successful here. And they play crazy mental gymnastics to try and convince themselves of ways to reconciliation. It’s not happening. He has moved on.

Actually, I take this back as it has been hinted that some of those sycophants that I spoke of are big money boosters. If they throw crazy money at him, NC State isn’t desperate enough match it. They know he is not the only human out of 8 billion on the planet that can win there.

But it would take some ridiculous dough. And make us look silly. But I’m here for it If we have another bad season and some boosters are that hellbent on making it happen.

Not as much as you might think. They've been to (4) Final Fours. Same as LSU. They've been to 7 Elite Eights. Only one more than LSU. They've reached 29 NCAA Tournaments. LSU has been to 24.

The difference is two national championships with one, 42 years ago, being among the most famous and unlikely in the history of the sport. Otherwise, the two programs are not that dissimilar. Plus, they have the dubious honor of being the third most notable program in their own state.

Hard, but not impossible. Right now, Wade will make less this season than McMahon. The NC State contract isn't that large. Now, he would certainly get a raise if he wins big this year and another school tries to poach him. But the current contract isn't a huge impediment.

LSU would present a unique situation. He was not fired because of poor results or lack of support by the fanbase/donors. To the contrary, most of the fanbase/donors were angry to see him go. While he's in a good spot at NC State now, he and his family spent 7 of the last 8 years living in Louisiana. North Carolina is more unfamiliar to him that Louisiana. Plus, he wouldn't be walking into a job where he has to work to create relationships with the donors. That's already in place. He would pick up where he left off. What's also in place is the fact the previous president he worked for is now LSU's president...in not so insignificant part because the previous president refused to hire Wade back after last season.

He'd have the full support of the Governor, BOS, fanbase, school president, and donors. It wouldn't be popular, or commonplace, for a coach to leave a good job after just one season. But this is a very unique set of circumstances. As crazy as it sounds, Wade was at the center of LSU's firing of two presidents (F. King and Tate) and two ADs (Alleva and Woodward). Clearly he's good at making people with power in Louisiana like him.

Would be good hire but many on this board think only WW can bring success to LSU basketball

This past spring there was a group of well connected people in Louisiana, including the governor, who pushed the LSU president and AD fire McMahon and rehire Wade. They didn't do so with Wade telling them under no circumstances would he ever work for LSU again. Wade was willing to entertain the possibility. Both Tate and Woodward shot it down because they refused to rehire him. While it wasn't the sole reason, it was the final reason Landry (and his BOS) pushed Tate out. It also made Wooward an enemy of the Governor for defying his wishes. Sounds silly in the grand scheme of things given LSU is bigger than college basketball. But a lot of well connected people in LA like Wade. And I think it has become very clear now the Governor is not shy about getting involved in LSU sports.

That hasn't changed. What HAS changed is the two people blocking any chance of his return last year (Tate and Woodward) have been forced out by the people who supported Wade. Do I think Wade returns to LSU next season? At this point, no. But I'm confident that barring a remarkable season by him at NC State or McMahon at LSU, the same folks that wanted him back at LSU will make another push to get him there. Only this time with a familiar and friendly President who would be happy to have him back.
