Would we have been a CFP team with a healthy Nuss?

It must be such a relief to G-Nuss that he doesn’t have to carry the burden of his season-long injury on his own anymore.
If not for #18’s injury, how many more wins would we have had this season? I would think enough to be a Playoff Team (if we would have had a healthy preseason all-conference QB stay healthy).
Thanks for being a warrior, Garrett! You did your part and now it is time to heal up for a bit.

No, he stunk last year too

Not with Kelly. He couldn't even make the playoff with JD5

I don’t know where this Nussmeir hype came from, did no one watch last yr?

I’m not saying that he was great last year, but he was the leading returning passer in all of college football. That’s usually going to come with some hype no matter who it is.

No. This offense and team in general has way too many problems to say that a healthy QB is the difference between 7-5 and 10-2.

Not unless it was a brain injury

frick no. What you have is a qb that didn’t do the work it requires to have a great season.
Why are all these threads making excuses. The guy was paid a crazy sum of money to shite the bed this year.
It is what it is. Stop the excuses

Yes. He had dumb gunslinger in him last year, but when he has thrown this year, that seems to have evaporated.

FIFY
An the answer is we could be sitting at only 2 losses if Nuss could have played at least average.

I have never watched Nussmeir play a down.

It’s interesting to me that at certain times players you thought were going to be key just disappeared.
At one point it looked like RB/QB Juwan Johnson was going to be a key contributor, then poof.
Going into the season we were all looking forward to Chris Hilton finally getting to show everyone that he’s ready to be the next great LSU WR. Even TreDez Green has stopped being a focal point of the offense. Zavion Thomas is another.
Who am I missing, I know there are more.
Of course the offensive line’s ineptitude is a major factor but when critics say this squad lacks identity they’re not wrong.

but have you seen Kiffen coach?

No. As long as he was no run threat, no. If he would’ve ran in 2024, we would’ve only had 1 loss to Bama. Same story this year.

We'd still be in contention, I think.
Defense was the reason we lost 3 of the 4 games last year. That's been significantly upgraded, and although the O Line was new, we did return a QB who threw for 4k yds and some weapons... and we added some new targets.
If we simply had Nuss playing at last year's level, we beat Ole Miss and Vandy, I believe. The defense did bend heavily in those games, but kept us in shouting distance. We could have put Ole Miss away in the first half and we likely outshoot Vandy.
A&M game is interesting; we did play with some heart in the first half. But I think they still beat us. And I think Alabama takes us more seriously and beats us in a ranked matchup. That means the Oklahoma game is for a playoff bid.

Offensive line is as, if not more, imoportant that QB. Our OL is terrible on top of that, we have a bunch of great athletes playing WR. We relied heavily on K. Lacy last year.

What does that have to do with Nusscryer?
I have seen Lane coach from the opposite side of the field.

Nuss injury has been downplayed for sure. It is obvious that it is more of a concern than LSU is willing to divulge to the public. Nuss prior reputation as a gunslinger is non existent this season. Superman has turned back in to Clark Kent. The preseason Hype, Heisman trophy candidate, experienced senior returning QB with record completion yards all this has faded into just that "hyperbole". Yet again, the juice is just not worth the squeeze. Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me. Yet I am still foolish enough to believe the hype only to face the reality of the season unfolding. I keep drinking the damn Kool Aid and wonder why I keep dying. from disappointment.
