How far out are you? How do you feel?
Can I do my top secret national intelligence job from home after a week or so?
When did the surgical pain subside?
How long before you were walking without a cane or walker?
Mine is next week.

Not after that doctor places a 5g monitoring chip in you

Me, two years out. Did both at the same time. First two weeks were a bitch. After that got much easier.
Weird pain behind the knees post, theres a lymph node behind each knee that hurts life hell. Two years out, still have pain and stiffness after sitting a long time, especially in cold weather. Much better than pre-op though.
If you need both, unless you’re ready to push through it, get one done at a time. You can do both, but it’s tough as hell the first two weeks.

I talked to a guy last week who said he had pain the first day, but was good after that.
Friend had it and said he still had swelling after 10 weeks, but wasn't bad.
Doctor and PT guys told me the first 2 weeks you will regret doing it, but after that you start recovering.
We will see. Mine is Dec. 5th and I hope I'm pretty good by Christmas.

My grandfather had one of the early knee replacements back in the mid seventies. I read recently that they had some issues with the early bonding agent that they used. I couldn't help but think that is what caused him to get the bone marrow infection. Damn near killed him, certainly took a few years off of his life.

How old are yall to get knees replaced or what did you do?

My dad had one in October.
It took him a while to get back to normal but it was more because my mom passed not long after and depression rocked him.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s. We went outside and did stuff.
It turns out most of it will come back to haunt you later

Tore my ACL and some other stuff playing HS football. They fixed it with 1980’s technology. Took 30 years for the arthritis to knock me down, but boy, did it ever.

Wife had her knee replaced two weeks ago. For the first week, she was regretting the surgery but now a little over two weeks out and she's doing better. Gets around with a cane, sometimes without one inside the house. Still dealing with pain but it gets better with time. Still has some swelling. Advice - ice that knee.

5 years on right, 4 years on left. The surgical pain will be reinforced by the mandatory physical therapy to make sure ligaments and muscles are forced back in position in the first 21 days after surgery. Surgery is easy, you're asleep. Physical therapy HURTS. Surgeon really pushed opioids to keep me going to pt. got bad enough to cause constipation for a week. Doc asked me if I could fart. I said yes, he said stick with the pain meds to support PT.
I used a hiking walking stick to help with stability.
After all that I was very ready to do it again on the second knee

I've heard that ice machines are invaluable. Ain't cheap, but invaluable.

Usually will have decent pain the first week. Minimal pain after 2 weeks
Can walk around pretty normally after a month. Full normal activity by 6 months

You better get both done at once, otherwise you'll just go in circles when you run because the bionic one will be faster

I had my left knee replaced on February 3rd. No pain at all.

When did the surgical pain subside?
The 1st couple days were pain free. Once the nerve block wore off it was bad for about a week. I had a little of trouble sleeping for the 1st couple weeks. My calf muscle was super tight almost like a Charlie horse . That was super frustrating and painful.

I was on the walker for about a week and a walking stick for another week and a half. Probably could have put them down sooner but I was scared that I was going to mess it up.
Physical therapy sucks but it absolutely necessary in getting back to normal. Also, I used a cold water pump and it was awesome. Use it instead of ice and it keeps the swelling at bay.
