Would they put pressure on him to make a decision before the playoffs?
I’m not saying they tell him to kick rocks if he remains silent on his future, but he’d be hanging Ole Miss out to dry if this goes into January and Lane ultimately leaves.

No

He has all the leverage. I swear some of you have never done any meaningful business in your entire lives

I don’t think they could afford to. They have zero leverage to do that.

So you think they let him coach in the playoffs knowing he’s leaving?

Ole Miss fans seem convinced that if he doesn't sign the extension before the playoffs they should suspend him. I mean, if he is coming to Florida I'm not complaining about getting him on board earlier than expected, but from their perspective I'm not sure how that helps them win in the playoffs. I guess just a principle thing? I'm not sure their admin would be on the same wavelength as the fans in this regard.

If it gets to be playoff time and the Florida and/or LSU jobs are open then the noise around Kiffin will be too much for him to ignore. He'll have to address it.

They don’t have enough bargaining chips to do that.

Rarely do I agree with the H&R Block thousandaire, but this is the truth.

This forum brings out some of the most retarded, know-nothing, pie-in-the-sky scenarios that I've ever seen. Sports fanatics lose their minds over this stuff, and regularly are some of the most idiotic people alive if they truly believe what they type.

: Yeah, let's give our highly prized, most successful coach in over half a century an ultimatum while we're in playoff contention. That's good business. Totally reasonable. Totally logical.

That's as dumb as LSU fans playing hokey with $50mm of someone else's money like it's beans and potatoes and pretending like the house isn't on fire and their school hasn't taken a massive PR hit to their brand image. It's like the Auburn fan yesterday saying Auburn is a better job because of their, "stability." It's like State fans wanting Lebby fired because we can do better after our hall of fame coach died and we slipped into the shite ditch of terribleocracy on a year when half of D1 is switching it up.

Stupid. Many of you do not think in reality when it comes to your sports teams.

Only if they want to really, really risk losing him.

You think they would force him out in the middle of a playoff run?

Good lord.

The ONLY party with leverage in this situation is Kiffin. The 3 scenarios are:

1. He gets a big raise and extension to stay at OM
2. He gets a huge deal at Florida
3. He gets a huge deal at LSU

And all 3 of those parties are going to fight like hell to make it happen for them driving up the price even more

Looks like Ole Miss board thinks he's signing with Florida. Sounds like his agent is doing a good job.

Neither LSU or Ole Miss have any leverage. LSU wants to hire Eli Drinkwitz and pay him like Ryan Day. LOL, both teams are fricked. This is Lane’s huge payday.

This is a prime example of the retardedness of sports fans.

Florida quite literally has zero leverage. What in the actual frick are you talking about? Florida has less leverage than Ole Miss. They certainly have less leverage than Kiffin (the only swinging dick with actual leverage), and I'd argue they have less leverage than LSU, dumpster fire as they currently are, because Florida has been a giant nothingburger since Meyer left. They're in a dead tie with Auburn on the most unstable, circus side show coaching carousel schools in the country. Quite literally no one takes the Florida of old seriously, and they haven't for years.

Florida is damaged goods. They and Auburn frick this up and it's good to know ya. We'll see you in the depths of despair with SC, Ole Miss once Kiffin leaves, Arkansas and State.
