I'll say this, if it's not Kiffin, fans have worked themselves into a frenzy and there's only a couple other (unrealistic) names that would soften that blow to the psyche.

I don't think Kiffin is a Spurrier or Meyer (maybe he could be one day) so these reported offers are insane but I think Lane is seen as the "safest" slam dunk hire available. Which is funny because in years previous he was considered a risk. Hell, the next Meyer could be someone like Sumrall or Golesh for all we know, but the admin knows at this point that they can't risk it with one of those types of hires this time around. Unless things get extremely desperate.

I think the majority of fans would be very disappointed with Fisch, even if he may be a decent coach. I have literally heard nothing about Kliff smoke except from this Caw (real or imposter, who's to say).
Ole Miss fans seem convinced that if he doesn't sign the extension before the playoffs they should suspend him. I mean, if he is coming to Florida I'm not complaining about getting him on board earlier than expected, but from their perspective I'm not sure how that helps them win in the playoffs. I guess just a principle thing? I'm not sure their admin would be on the same wavelength as the fans in this regard.
Caw still trying to will Kliff into existence. Respect the hustle, not sure about the strategy. Reverse jinx?
I have no clue where all this noise is coming from but the Ole Miss 24/7 board is already saying Kiffin shouldn't be allowed to coach this weekend. They're losing it.
Ole Miss fans already saying on their board that Kiffin shouldn't be allowed to coach this weekend. Because of message board rumors.

They're down bad.
Stricklin isn't running shite lol. He's been sent to the kids table. The money men are in control right now.

I don't know if Kiffin is coming or staying, I'm pretty pessimistic with the football program and admin so if I had to guess I would say he stays, but there's a lot of Florida people that seem pretty confident he's in the bag. We'll see if they're full of shite or not.
I hope you're right. We don't want him.
You could be right but there are plenty of examples of coaches that were praised for doing more with less and went to a higher level program and flamed out all the same, even with the additional resources and advantages. I just don't see him as the level of coach to take us to the NC game. I think he would significantly raise the floor of the program which is desperately needed but a high floor still gets you fired in 4 years at UF without serious playoff results.
Drink is obviously better than Napier, but to Gator fans, this will be Dan Mullen 2.0 except Drink's offense isn't as good. He's a quirky dork just like Mullen and that does not play in Gainesville unless you are winning bigly. I don't think we'll get a Tennessee-Schiano fan revolution (UT fans have even us beat in being insane psychos), but the reaction will be terrible. It would be hard not to imagine us being in the same spot in another 4 years after Drink has likely failed to live up to our (high) expectations.
To over simplify it, it was a combination of:

1.) Mullen not putting effort into recruiting
2.) Not caring about defense at all
3.) Keeping his buddies on staff despite their units performing terribly
4.) Everyone knew he was looking to jump to the NFL because he hated recruiting

The funny thing now is that recruiting doesn't even matter with NIL so that works in his favor in this new era. Still think he's never gonna give a rats arse about defense though.
Sounds like a keeper :)
How'd that work out for you
I think we're desperate enough that we'd (fans) take him despite the hard feelings of him faking medical conditions to run from the grind (and also the toxic culture he helped build amongst all the other scandals of his lifestyle that were no secret in gainesville).

That being said I don't think he would be interested. He probably makes good money doing easy TV jobs without any of the SEC stress on his poor heart. I think Notre Dame is the only job he may be even slightly interested in at this point.

Vitello leaving you sad baws in the dust so you return to the SEC basement in baseball. It's over.
Can we win? Sure, I think Texas is weak and our defense will keep us in the game.

Will we win?

No.

Billy Napier.
Mullen was better than Napier (not a high bar) but that doesn't mean Mullen didnt deserve to be fired. He never cared about defense and wouldn't fire his buddy despite how bad it was in his tenure. He gave up on recruiting which was the last straw.

If he gave a shite about anything but scheming up offensive game plans he would still be here.

We just shite the bed with his replacement.
The pattern here is that all three of the shitty coaches we had before Napier still had at least one good year. Napier hasn't sniffed one yet.
Cool, we upset LSU and lose to Miss St or Kentucky. Yippee..?
