What is Kelly hiding?

He sends an email to wanting to start negotiations on a lump sum trying to start the 7 day timer. He negotiates in bad faith to get past the “cure period” then exits negotiations and sues.
Bad form.
What is he hiding that he chose to try to run out the clock?

I've seen a lot of weird interpretations of this situation, but this one is pretty out there.

Poor clock management IMO

He knows that no company in its right mind is gonna have $54million on the line without paying a chainsmoking ex-cop to follow said subject around for a few grand/yr or perhaps a recovery percentage in hopes of catching said coach "slipping". We are no different than any other company. I assume..

The contract calls for a firing with cause to be given to Kelly and then he would have 7 days to cure it.
Nothing he did would affect that. It was LSU's responsibility to notify him of cause.
And, if they were firing him for cause, there would be no negotiations as the buyout would be null and void.

A smart legal move would be:
—Reinstate
—Send notice
—Wait out cure period
—Fire him again

His email day 1 was to have a paper trail for timing.
He wanted the clock to start

Just because they CAN fire him for cause may not be the best for both parties. LSU doesn’t want its dirty laundry in public either and doesn’t want the long litigation that would follow with bad PR hits.
Kelly knows this hence him trying to start the clock with an email saying he had been informed of being fired and wanted to start negotiations all the while just waiting for the 7 day window to end.

I think he had conversations with Woodward about negotiating the buy out and then Woodward got fired.
The attorneys on the BOS decided to throw out a lowball offer. Kelly refused and threw out a higher anchor. LSU countered with $30M and here we are.
Kelly feels he has leverage, LSU is trying to gain leverage by threatening "for cause". Kelly thinks they are bluffing and is calling. We'll find out in the next couple weeks if LSU was or not.
Moscona made a comment on the Locked on Podcast today about if Kelly were to win, the money would have to be appropriated by the state legislature since the suit is against the state. He said there is apparently $300M of awards owed by the state to people that are just hung up becasue the state hasn't or can't budget them in. This could be another leverage point from LSU. If Kelly doesn't take a lower buy out amount they will let it go to court, Kelly will probably win, and then the state will take it's sweet time appropriating the funds.
In the end, I think this still gets settled out of court. We are just in the middle of the penis measuring part of negotiations. LSU doesn't want to go to court and neither does Kelly.

He isn't hiding anything. He was not doing his job well, got himself fired, pretended he was part of the problem so there would be negotiations, is nonresponsive to negotiations and sues for the full amount the moment he thinks he can.
I don't think that timer means what they think it means though, this will get interesting. I'm hoping there is more documentation than Kelly's team thinks there is.

He should settle for 25 and call it a victory just like he has done all year.

funny thing about suing is once you get it in front of a judge you never know what might happen, it could blow up in his face, or LSU's

What 7 day timer?

to run out the clock
What clock?
LSU is not required to fire him with cause after the 7 day notice and cure period lapses. They simply cannot do it before then. You're suggestion makes zero sense in this context.

What on earth are you talking about?
It's not on the employee to "start a clock."
That's not how any of this works...at all.

Man, you post some stupid stuff.

Why does the Rant think Kelly is sitting in his home scheming this stuff? His agents and their lawyers are the ones filing the lawsuits, writing the letters, etc. It’s Trace Armstrong & Co. it’s laughable to see the Rant lose its mind about visualizing BK conspiring.

The 7 day window starts “IF” he was fired for cause, not just if he was fired.
Thats where your entire theory collapses

And LSU maintains he has not been formally fired yet so cause is on the table.
He is trying to backdate the official termination date so that LSU doesn’t have the negotiation chip of a “cause” firing

It would be the most Louisiana thing ever for Woodward to “fire” Kelly only for him not to be officially fired until 2+ weeks later.
