I came up with 5 criteria to score coaching candidates. Each criteria is scored 1-5. I only included realistic candidates. I don't think Lanning, Saban, Meyer, etc. are realistic.

I could have this all wrong, and I'm sure you'll let me know.. I'd like to see your candidates based on this criteria and your scores.

My criteria:
1. Consistent success
2. Coaches physicality
3. Success in big games
4. Recruiting
5. Personality/relationship with fanbase ("fit")

My Results:

Lane Kiffin
Consistent success - 4
Coaches physicality - 3
Success in big games - 3
Recruiting - 4
Personality/relationship with fanbase - 5
total - 19

Marcus Freeman
Consistent success - 3
Coaches physicality - 4
Success in big games - 3
Recruiting - 5
Personality/relationship with fanbase - 4
total - 19

Mike Shanahan (Indiana OC)
Consistent success - 5
Coaches physicality - 3
Success in big games - 4
Recruiting - 2
Personality/relationship with fanbase - 3
total - 17

John Sumrall
Consistent success - 4
Coaches physicality - 3
Success in big games - 3
Recruiting - 3
Personality/relationship with fanbase - 3
total - 16

Jeff Brohm
Consistent success - 3
Coaches physicality - 4
Success in big games - 3
Recruiting - 2
Personality/relationship with fanbase - 3
total - 15

You can't compare him to the others with metrics because he isn't a HC. Replade him with Dillingham.

I'd be happy if Lane got the job but consistent success should be a 3, physicality should be a 2, and recruiting should be a 2

Yeah I don’t get the high score with consistent success with Lane. It’s like people ignore much of his career.

I am not advocating for Brohm, but there is no way you can have him as a 3 on consistent success and success in big games. He punches up all the time.

WKU:
8-5
12-2
10-3

Purdue:(3 years prior to arriving 3-9, 2-10, 3-9)
7-6
6-7 (beat #2 Ohio St.)
4-8
COVID
9-4 (beat #2 Iowa, beat #3 Michigan St.)
8-5 (lost in the B1G title game to #2 Michigan)

Louisville
10-4 (beat #10 Notre Dame, lost to #4 FSU in ACCCG)
9-4 (beat #11 Clemson)
7-2 atm (beat #2 Miami)

First, props for your work. Appreciate effort.

A couple of other criteria:
- Can they coach across an entire season? Sort of the counterpart to your big games success but comes with the SEC territory.

- Have they proven trans-generational success? For example, Chizek was successful (natty in Y2 at Auburn) but due largely to one player. Likewise, Sumlin at ATM. Have they shown their success is not due to a single player or collection?

Nah, Sumrall is a higher score for that criteria. It's what he preaches.

I dont understand your big game criteria. Kiffin has coached in dozens of big games. shanahan has been in the b10 for two seasons and was at JMU before. Shanahan was coached in front of 80,000+ people twice, Kiffin probably a few dozen times

What I mean by "big game" is "punching above your weight". I don't care about attendance. Yes, Shanahan has a small sample size, but he's been very impressive against teams that have much better or equal talent (Oregon, Penn State, Illinois, Nebraska, Michigan).

Now do FCS coaches because after Landry's and LSUs shitshow regarding firing and the payout, Lane ain't coming even in your most positive dream.

Freeman is at Notre Fing Dame. Do you really think Christ, Our Lady and Notre Dame money are going to let Freeman walk away like Kelly?

Sumrall and Shanahan are probably more realistic.

Brohm is in Louisville working for Momma with Papa paying him right now.
