Nuss is the Most Vilified Player in LSU History

At least since I started following us in the late 60s.
I saw Tommy Hodson get booed as a senior vs UF in '89 after throwing an int. LSU-UF 1989. We were preseason top-10 but the season just unraveled and Hodson (wrongfully IMO) bore the brunt of the criticism.
I saw fans cheer when Jarrett Lee got injured vs OM. LSU-OM 2008 (Jarrett Lee Injury). Bonus: Lee throws a perfect pass on the play before right in the hands of Richard Dickson who dropped it. But much like Hodson in '89, Lee became the focal point of our fans anger.
Later, Jordan Jefferson would assume that role. We blamed him for holding the ball too long when in fact that's how he was coached after the J. Lee pick-6 fest the year before. We stopped using the TE or throwing over the middle of the field to avoid ints. This was during those dark years of Les's patented pound-n-punt offense. But JJ got the blame.
But I think what we're seeing with Nuss dwarfs these. Some of the vitriol is motivated by NIL (he's getting big $$$ - which none of the above got). Some by his predecessors - Joe and Jayden. The were both 5th year seniors who made leaps after Y4. We expected Nuss to follow, even if not in degree but in kind. His Y4 #s were better than either. I expected improvement.
His last play in Tuscaloosa was the antithesis of what we saw from Joe & Jayden. That was really, really bad. It was 3rd & goal from the 13 (imagine that, 3rd and long again). Not sure how much it mattered to the game; we still made the FG. And TBH, that was his best possession of the game before that - made some good throws - downfield. Stayed in the pocket. Made throws. Nice drive. But that play was . . . (loss for words).
I'm old but i try to remember our players for their best moments and not their worst. Hodson brought us two SEC titles. Jarrett Lee was money on the last drives vs UTenn and UF in '10. JJ has two wins over Bama (Saban) as QB. Hope Nuss sticks it out and has a chance to redeem himself. I need it.

yall crack me up...go watch a game with all of the throws made by Jennings, Harris, Jefferson, and ettling. nuss was freaking dan Marino vs those guys. I realize the game is different now and the worst qb in fbs this year is probably better than all of those guys but iys still crazy to see the difference. Jennings was 50 percent completion under 140 yards every single game.

Nuss literaly can’t make a single throw he does nothing well those guys were 10x the QB Nuss is this year

Can't wait for Nuss to just geaux away. This is all depression and anxiety you know. And it gets worse before it gets better. And it will be years. Years. What a nightmare.

How many millions did they get in NIL?

Let me explain it to you.
Nuss is better than all of those guys. AND THATS THE PROBLEM.
We all say Nuss last year. Overall an okay QB, but at times he had moments in which he looked spectacular. Where did that go? Why does he look not only worse than last year, but hes not even a gunslinger? I mean, hes throwing check downs ON EVERY SINGLE PLAY. He's avoiding guys WIDE open, he refuses to do the basics like, stepping up into the pocket making our offensive line looking even worse, and he STILL refuses to run and take easy yards.
With all of the reports that he basically took the off-season off, what do you want from us fans? For 3.1 Million this is completely unacceptable.

Some of the QBs mentioned couldn’t go 18/21 against air.

I distinctly remember holding my breath anytime Lee, Jefferson, Jennings, or Harris dropped back. Nuss is much better than those guys. We were spoiled by Burrow and Daniel’s.

The difference is he’s being paid millions of dollars. frick him

Pick six Lee was awful his first year. He was better in 2011. Jennings/Harris were just awful in every way, yet their offenses were still better than this year.
Nuss was a heisman favorite who cries every time someone touches him. I will say though that all the qb’s in the Les era had a way better o line than we have now.

I remember Josh Booth. Think UAB in 2000

Juan Betanzos (Look it up!)
He was an LSU kicker that was booed so often for missing (which he did a lot) that when he finally made one he ran to the student section and flipped them off (there is a famous picture of it)

same here - I hate to hate an LSU player but Nuss has certainly done nothing to dissuade that feeling this year.
Perhaps it is the nagging feeling that he has all that NIL $$$ he is sitting on & not giving a flip about the rest of the team.
I'd like to think of all the emerging 'science' concerning his faults as merely Nusscience.
