Exactly, which is why I stated that it doesn’t matter what he told his players the other day and/or what the media said. You double that man’s salary AND cost of living is cheaper in Baton Rouge than it is in Tempe or Scottsdale (I believe I read he and his wife and kids live in Scottsdale); bottom line that man and his woman are going to listen.

People get too caught up in the semantics of the alma mater. Louisville hasn’t had rich football history since Johnny Unitas. Arizona St. hasn’t had rich history outside of a Jake Plummer season. When one of the big boys comes calling (LSU) these guys would make the jump. Brohm, Lea, Dillingham are great coaches. At the end of the day they will never win a National Title at their respective schools. LSU could make Dillingham a 5 year 50 million dollar offer overnight, and how does he say no to that kind of money, and the resources, and opportunity LSU gives him?

What's the obsession with this guy? I know Arizona State has been pretty good and he's a good offensive mind. What am I missing?

Everyone has their guy and they’ll pump him until we make the hire. At the end of the day I just want someone who is married to football. I want a guy who doesn’t give a shite about hunting/ fishing and golfing.

No matter what, it’s not like he can’t always get the Arizona St job back. The only notable headcoach I can remember them having (aside from Herm) is Dennis Erickson(spelling?) however long ago that was

He was on the radio in the last few days and his entire family lives in the same neighborhood out there. Good luck uprooting that and from his Alma mater to move everyone to Baton Rouge.

He has a cult like following from a fan base. He isn’t leaving.

$7.4 million total 2025 compensation ($5.8 + $1m signing bonus + $642,000 ANNUAL retention bonus) before any performance incentives. Has the highest performance incentives of all CFB coaches. Just making the playoffs gets him a $2m bonus. Winning it gets him $4m. Has a bunch of other performance and academic incentives…including exceptional yearly raises and contract extension based wins. His bonuses for the 2024-2025 season were the highest ever for a CFB coach at over $3m. That was before his new contract which substantially increased his bonus potential.

This guy is not leaving Tempe for Baton Rouge….or anywhere else unless the wheels come off at some point.

I mean, for the people that want him, you probably immediately answered the question as to why.

I want the football equivalent to Jay Johnson. Unfortunately that is probably Nick Saban, and I don't think it's happening.

I think Key would be a more likely alumni pull out of the 3 and even he may not want to budge

Yeah, and they have a lot of pretty good coaches who are good offensive minds that get fired after about 4-5 years in the SEC because it's so competitive. This conference eats coaches like it's nothing. Who has Dillingham beat at ASU consistently? they play a soft arse schedule. They got to the playoffs by default last year because of their soft schedule.

They're 6-3 right now with the 28th ranked SOS while LSU is at 10 right now. They were 11-3 with around a similar SOS. I know that Arizona St isn't exactly some easy premiere program to do good at but I haven't seen anything impressive outside a playoff run due to scheduling favoring them. Where is all his big sig wins? BK was a more proven winner than this guy and he couldn't do anything with it.

I'm not convinced this guy is that great unless I'm missing something with him.
