Lane has chosen Florida, but that doesn't mean Florida is a better job

In the national media, likely to drum up clicks, there was an immediate decision for everyone to rank the jobs. And while I think that many would agree that LSU has unique benefits over most schools, including Florida, this conversation seemed to allow for zero nuance in particular coaches' opinions.

For Lane, Florida has those unique qualities, not LSU. Lane didn't take Layla on their first date in Death Valley, he did it in the Swamp. Lane didn't see Knox grow up cheering on the Purple and Gold, he witnessed him in Orange and Blue. The list goes on, but the theme is consistent, there is a consistent connection to UF for him that isn't there with LSU.

Congrats. If Lane left Ole Miss, I thought it would be to Florida. Florida doesn't have a state income tax. Lane will do well there. If what you said was true.

Gainesville as a city really sucks. That’s all I’ve got.

In the 90s NOBODY would argue that Florida was the better job. Then LSU went and spanked that arse for a few decades and changed that perception.

Was listening to Bill King this AM. He was acting like he actually knew anything about this search. He doesn’t and neither do you. The best sources on what lanes getting ready to do are at Ole Miss because they’re the ones closest to him. And I don’t see anyone at all this panicking right now.

I’d just caution everyone that what you’re being led to believe at this stage of things is often a distraction.

Take that as you will regarding your Lane to Florida smoke.

What LSU did off the field changed the perception more than on the field results. Florida has always been slow to invest in facilities and all of the bells and whistles that attracts players. There were one of the last schools in the SEC to build an indoor practice facility.

I am really not trying to be an a-hole dude but you're lying through your teeth. He very well might take the job at some point but that has not happened. I know for an absolute fact that Lane has not spoken to a single person besides his agent and what he told his agent was he would not be discussing any options at this moment.

LSU has not had any conversations with any candidate outside of preliminary talks with agents to gauge interest. All this BS that people are "hearing" Coaches are discussing these options with said school are inaccurate. Think otherwise if you want but this is a FACT.

I remember the Lincoln Riley talk in 2021 that he accepted the LSU job. I won't believe it until I see it.

As opposed to redstick? I have been to both many times but to call out gainesville when comparing to baton rouge.
