Who works for who?
What are their roles and responsibilities and job scopes relative to one another?
Which one makes the decision on AD / football coach?

President is over the LSU system. Chancellor is in charge of a local campus.

President is over the LSU system...all campuses.
Chancellor is over a specific campus...in Dalton's case, over the Baton Rouge campus.

Both can help give Nick what he wants.

So is this new Chancellor a win for LSU football?

IMO Dalton is more of a play to get him than a sign that we got him.
Who knows how close, if at all, he and Saban are though.

Which is big.

President is over all LSU affiliated campuses and the chancellor is in charge of one specific campus. In this situation, the Baton Rouge LSU Campus

Dalton will oversee LSU, Pennington and LSUHSC under a new unified system.

Plus the LSU Med Schools and Pennington.

This was the system LSU had when they first hired Saban. Mark Emmert was one of the driving forces behind why Saban decided to come to LSU.

im glad Dalton got to be the Chancellor because he really seems to love research and academics and has a strong background. He seems like a great fit for that job. And if he can get nick saban any closer to coming to LSU thats even better.

So do we feel and believe, these two will help VA find and bring on the best possible coach?

Dalton will also be vice-president of the LSU system. I have a feeling Rousse will lean on him for academic and research items while focusing on the finances.

How mad does it make you that it seems like LSU has upgraded?

I had to look it up myself.
Provost reports to Chancellor who reports to President
Provost is the head of the academic side
Chancellor is like a CEO of the Campus
President is then analogous to chairman of the Board in a way.
All have different roles but big responsibilities and need coordination
