LIV Golf has made a major change to its tournament structure:
All events will now be 72 holes.

I think this is LIV openly admitting their format sucks. So not sure this is a win against pride

If they do get OWGR points, I just don't see how there is a merger with the PGA Tour any time soon. They should get the points IMO, but good luck trying to see all players together except a few times a year.

PGA Tour doesn’t want this.
Will happen on DP Tour, but in offseason (August - January)

They also recently announced expanding the field size to 57, with 5 wildcards (up from 2).
And apparently, in addition to having 4 promotion spots noted above (2 from international series and 2 from their version of Q school), they are also planning to have at least 1 wild card spot reserved for tournament-to-tournament qualification, no details yet on how. My guess is from the international series.
I think their OWGR application will be approved.

That is interesting. I haven’t seen that or the details on 57 player field.
I’ve seen them do Tuesday or Wednesday qualifiers for an alternate spot before a tournament, so maybe something like that for the final wildcard

First they came for our shorts and we said nothing. Then they came for our 54 hole tournaments and we said nothing. Then they came for the Chainsmokers and the shotgun starts. If they come for the Cleeks and Legion XIII we must rise up to save what we love.
Where did it all go wrong?!!??? The sport was going to be revolutionized. Think of all the family time Rahm will have to give up now to play the extra 18 holes a tournament.

So basically the only remotely significant remaining thing that makes LIV golf unique from other tours at this point is the team component. Are there fans that actually care about that part of LIV? I get there are cash incentives for the players to win the team titles, but I almost view these team competitions in an otherwise individual sport like I do racing teams. Fans still follow the players they like, not what team they're on.
