In New Orleans, Emeril’s (800 Tchoupitoulas Street) led the way, earning two Michelin stars for its refined take on Creole cuisine. Run by E.J. Lagasse, son of celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, the restaurant impressed inspectors with updates on classics like gumbo, barbecue shrimp, and cornbread—paired with standout service and Southern hospitality.
Two other local favorites, Saint-Germain (3054 St. Claude Avenue in Bywater) and Zasu (127 N. Carrollton Avenue in Mid-City), each received one star. Saint-Germain, helmed by chefs Blake Aguillard and Trey Smith, was praised for its creative tasting menus and bold flavors. Zasu, led by veteran New Orleans chef Sue Zemanick, earned its star for elegant seafood dishes that blend French technique with local ingredients.
In addition, 11 local restaurants received the Bib Gourmand distinction, which recognizes establishments offering great food at a great value:
Acamaya, 3070 Dauphine Street
Cochon, 930 Tchoupitoulas Street
Cochun Butcher, 930 Tchoupitoulas Street
Domlise’s Po-Boy & Bar, 5240 Annunciation Street
Dooky Chase, 2301 Orleans Avenue
Hungry Eyes, 4206 Magazine Street
Lufu Nola, 301 Saint Charles Avenue
Mister Mao, 4501 Tchoupitoulas Street
Parkway Bakery & Tavern, 538 Hagan Avenue
Saba, 5757 Magazine Street
Turkey and the Wolf, 739 Jackson Avenue

"Murder Under Glass"
A famous food critic, who has been extorting money from a restaurant owner in exchange for good reviews, murders him when he threatened to expose the critic.
Supposedly there is an entire documentary about Yelp shaking down restaurant owners

Have you been to Emeril’s in the last couple of years or are you just fricking mentally retarded in your general life?
Actually, we don’t want your answer.

The inspectors go incognito so commander's wouldn't know when they showed up.
Maybe this newest chef just isn't up to par

Have you been since his son redid it in the past couple of years?
Michelin definitely favors fine dining, nine course tasting menu type restaurants when it comes to awarding actual stars. But if that’s what you’re looking for everyone I know who has been to emerils since they redid it says it’s incredible.

Yes I’m retarded because I don’t think Emeril’s is the best restaurant in New Orleans.

Yep pretty much everything you see involves money, paid something for a good review, or received free food in exchange for a glowing review.
My favorite is the Bayou Choice Awards the Houma Courier does.Every year they get different advertisers to proclaim they were selected as best what ever if you get enough votes. The joke is that unless you advertise in the paper you pretty much ineligible to win.
Sometimes they may even carve out a field so one can appear to win just because they want everyone to appear as a winner.
That is how you know almost all awards are fake or very suspicious.

Not going to argue the merits of the New Orleans places, but here’s why I think you may be right. New Orleans got 3 starred restaurants. Austin, TX got 7, including 3 BBQ joints. Do the standards differ from city to city? Why would people think these are meaningful ratings?

Emerils is good, but it’s no where near the best New Orleans has to offer. It could be the best restaurant in most cities, but it’s not the best in New Orleans. There are several that are better, traditional, and non-traditional.

I like Emerils, but there are several other places in the city that are better.
No Commanders? No Clancys? Brigtsens? Peche? I could go on.

Michelin has a “type”, if you will.
But for zero of the Brennan restaurants to even get a recommendation award, that’s certainly unexpected
