But I’m really not worried about LSU. I think when all is said and done, we’ll be very happy with the hires.

I’m also excited to see how the new AD handles basketball. Would love to see us get back to the tournament.

All LSU fans also need to keep in mind. It matters not one bit if you are excited or disappointed or meh or mad or happy the day of the hire.

What matters is what happens on the field the next 1-5 years.

Some meh hires turn out great. Some splash hires turn out bad. Some good hires turn out great. Some good hires turn out bad. And even sometimes… bad hires turn out good. The feeling the day of the hire is irrelevant and will have no impact on the eventual success or failure on the field.

Well shite, if it really is between Kiffin and Saban like some are reporting, of course we'll all be happy no matter what

Will they do to McMahon what they did to Kelly if MBB is struggling? Or was Kelly a special case

He has this season to rehabilitate his tenure. If they end up where they are projected, he'll be gone immediately after the season, IMO. It is less likely to happen mid-season in basketball, barring a blowout loss to a mid-200 or lower Ken Pom team.

I hope he proves us all wrong and goes on to a stellar LSU career. I will not hold my breath, however. I'll wait for a string of wins over very bad teams before I get irrationally excited about the season

It might be all the speculation I'm reading here but I have a very good feeling about these hires and I think we are all going to very happy.

And if that happens I can't wait to see the reaction from the rest of the league

Man, I really don't think so, but if so, awesome.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling some of our fan base is setting themselves up for disappointment

To which any coach not named that person, will be a disappointment even if it is a solid hire.

Why does everything have to be about race?

LSU needs a coach that’s hungry. Can’t say no to Saban, but can’t hire another coach who’s satisfied with his career and just wants a paycheck.

Regardless of who is hired, you will still have LSU fans screaming that they hate it so if/when said coach gets fired, they get to say “see, I told you he would never win.”

Yes, that would be nice. It's been a whil. But the main problem with mbb, that won't go away, is the one & done/bolting, if you are a player that's any good. Every year's roster could be as different as a jazz solo, even for a good coach.
