He has everything you want in a coach.

Any bad results he has are from being bogged down by Iowa State . And they still are doing damn good despite.

Agree he is a great coach but could he handle the pressure and Stress of running a big time program at LSU? Iowa st is one thing but LSU is a much bigger animal. Campbell reminds me of Dan Mullen. Great X's and O's guy but can he handle everything else?

So for the rest the season people who want attention are going to bring up the name of every coach that wins a game that week

Campbell would win a bunch at LSU, Auburn, or Florida. Im hoping for a miracle that Arkansas hires him but it won't happen because we suck

I’m a huge Matt Campbell fan, and an ISU and LSU alum and fan.

1) I’m not certain Matt would do as well at LSU as ISU - totally different coaching mentality requirements. Matt doesn’t try to recruit 5* or even 4* players at ISU. He find coachable, developable players and invests in them. I’m not sure he could deal with what’s involved with going after highly sought after players.

2) Matt is family first and doesn’t want a tier one gig where that causes conflict.

3) he turned down a Brian Kelly sized contract with the Lions a few years ago to stay in Ames.

Petrino needed to beat auburn or Mississippi State to have a realistic shot.

I'm out of the loop and I think everyone is pretty bummed due to bigger jobs opening. Silverfield, Golesh, and Morris from UNT have been mentioned. There were Franklin whispers but those have died down.

Morris or Golesh could be good

Ark is a valuable lesson on not waiting, bringing Pittman back for a lame duck season is biting them in the arse

This is why so many "program builder" types fail at big time jobs. It's just a literal night and day difference in how you run a program.

What he's good at is perfect for a smaller school who doesn't have high expectations and doesn't work if your goal is the elite tier and titles.

He’s 5-4 and has had 1 double digit winning seasons.

You don’t pay 55m to hire a coach that has 25 losses in the last 4.5 years

Matt Campbell would be a disaster. He’s openly talked about losing focus after good seasons. The dude struggles with the grind at Iowa State…. LSU’s requirements would eat him alive.

He has made it clear in the past that he's not leaving Ames. Young guy, young family, in a place more concerned about basketball and wrestling than anything else. Perfect job .

Disagree, the big 12 hasn't been a strong conf for a while. He hasn't won a conf title and he is 47-40 in the Big 12 since being at Iowa St.

He's a good coach no doubt, he's not the right fit for this job. Also, hes made it clear he doesn't want to leave the midwest.

Right…and we just learned a lesson in the give ____ coach more talent and he’ll kill it assumption

Campbell seems to know his niche and is good with it

Im a big Campbell fan but i agree with the ISU fan. He’s where he needs to be. Feel the same about Lea and Drink.

Im ready for the out of left field candidate that waylays everyone.

I wanted him in 2021 but he has lost his shine since then. Can't win the big game imo

I think he's a great coach who would do well in the NFL or even other college jobs. But as we’ve seen fit in Baton Rouge matters. And I don’t see this guy having the personality for the job.
