Key Dates:

December 20th and 21st is the first round of the playoffs

December 31st and January 1st is round two

January 2nd: The Transfer Portal Opens

If we wait for Lane Kiffin for example then I would think he would make it to round two possibly before we can pull him over. I think we should wait for the best even if it hurts us for next year. Let Austin Thomas run the show and assure the players that we will have an elite coach. Work out the money with the players and once we announce someone great they will pull the trigger. They want money and they want to win.

Wait.
One class isn't worth getting the wrong coach. Frank can hold it together. We can have a down year.

Hold. Get the guy you want. All in 2027

You don't piss away 10-20 years of greatness, if thats what you believe you are waiting on, for one class.

If you’re 100% getting Kiffin…. You fricking wait. No question. As others have said, one class is less important than getting the right coach or at least the one you really gives the program the best chance. Even if it isn’t Kiffin, you still wait to get the coach you want instead of just settling.

If you really can get Kiff you wait. I would not wait for anyone else though.

You send Gordon with paper work to sign him unlimited legal services and Todd Graves with all the Canes he wants. That should seal the deal!

I agree on everyone saying if you're getting Kiffin you wait. The problem is how do you hold Kiffin to his word while waiting? Honest question.

If you wait and he has a change of heart or OM drops a bigger bag now you are way behind. I would imagine if we were waiting on Kiffin, all the other jobs would fill. UF filling before us would be telling and the speculation on Kiffin and OM would be deafening during the playoffs. He will have to answer to it in the media.

It’s all about what you are waiting on.

If he has said yes and you are waiting for him to finish up…sure.

If he has said I’m interested but wait until I’m finished up and we will talk…nope

But how do you know that? Do you trust Kiffin enough to wait till mid-January? I don't.

Just fricking hire Kiffin and Aranda for DC

LSU wont even need to hire some bigtime OC

Keep the rest of the crew and put Saban as AD

The Coach O for NIL spending specialist

Lane is a huge troll, what makes you think he wouldnt do something to intentionally weaken an opponent?

If two coaches were dead even, then it could be a deciding factor.

Otherwise just get the best coach. The roster will fix itself.

Nothing is guaranteed either way, but Wait and try to get it right.

Don’t rush and get stuck with a bad choice.

If it’s Kiffin I would have a solid plan B that will be available just in case he trolls u and leads u along to try and hurt an opponents program and then backs out at last minute. That would be my fear with it being him and them being in playoff most likely

Say it louder for the ones in the back!

Making the right hire is more important than 1 season, and so is the flip side. Rushing the hire and getting the wrong one can set you back years. You wait for the right guy no matter what.

If you're waiting, then you're targeting Lane or Lanning.

I mean, you really don’t but there can be built in assurances. I just don’t want to see them settle for a sub-par coach just because the coach you really want is still coaching. It’s not like I’m saying hedge your bets on a maybe…. If you have agreement on both sides that it’s done when the season ends, you wait.

Would you rather them just hire someone because they don’t have to wait on them or would you rather them hire the best coach for the job? It doesn’t have to be Lane, what if the target is a coordinator that is still coaching and that’s the guy you really want to hire… are you going to tell them now or never and hire someone else just because their team is still playing?
