That used to be a real thing back in the day.
Not so much in the SEC, but it was in the Big10 & Notre Dame.
Are academic requirements a thing of the past ?
Have they stopped pretending that athletes are students ?

Good point. You never seem to hear anything about that. I wonder whether these paid mercenaries are even students anymore.

The infrastructure now makes it almost impossible for athletes to frick up that badly.

A lot of professors would get in hot water for failing a star player and holding them out of a key game.

I know for a fact that back in the day some GA was going to fail OBJ in English for literally not doing anything in the class and they shite canned the GA when they got wind of it

Then we should move to a club system like in Europe.

The 2019 Natty was almost a disaster

4 game changing players were ineligible after the fall semester. They had to take intercession classes in order to pass the required number of classes by the NCAA

Too much money involved now for a pencil pusher to keep a player out.

You would think that a guy who went to Newman could be bothered to get through his classes at LSU. Guess not.

This is why I truly believe within a decade schools are going to completely drop the attending class requirement. If they're getting paid millions to play football, why make them attend freshman English?

I always get shite on but the facade that was already hanging on by a thread has been totally abandoned these days, it's only a matter of time before schools agree to stop pretending.

Maybe the big high schools are doing that now… Tommy Henry was ahead of his time calling them “sports camps”

I was always against the athletic departments splitting off and becoming private entities, but I’m kind of changing my tune after the LSU governor debacle.

Why???… I know it’s cliche but the guys here to “play football not school”…
they just had to pay 54 million for someone to not do their job… damn some professor interfering with a player who makes more than they do behind some meaningless test(sarcasm kinda)

I remember tutoring an LSU defensive player (LL) back in the summer of 04 in an introductory to Social Work class.

Homeboy went from the cusps to failing to a high C or low B

I took coaching football class with Nader and Tim Pope was in it, dude had a D in the midterm. Pretty sure he’s in the Florida DOC now

You don’t hear shite about academics
