Is it really affecting your life that much?

Same people whose feelings were hurt giving Saban $1 million yearly. Now they’re just older and more ornery

Probably a misunderstanding. They think the money is coming from LSU and public funds, not private donors.

People are getting worked up bc it’s a wealth they cannot fathom. The donors whose wealth is making wealth annually probably aren’t happy about it but seem ready to write the checks

I’m just grateful LSU has fans that are uber rich. Props to those guys…

Because they’re mad that someone that has acquired wealth doesn’t want to donate millions to their personal agenda.

My favorite crashouts are from people that say "Man, the taxpayers have to float this.. When the roads are falling apart"

Exactly. If it’s a single donor paying for the buyout and if it’s Todd Graves as speculated, he’ll be fine. His estimated net worth is 17.2 billion. The .2 will take care of the buyout several times over.
And if the speculation is true—Thanks Todd!

I don’t get it either. $0 of my money is going towards the buyout yet I get to (hopefully) see a better product on the field in the near future.

Most LSU fans are blue collar, plant workers who earn every dime they make (in their small minds). A coach getting fired is already someone disliked, so them getting ‘free money’ gives them the red arse. The amount of ‘free money’ magnifies the redness of the arse.

for me, it's just the concept that a guy that has failed is going to get a massive windfall that I think he doesn't deserve.

Similar to when a CEO drives a company into the ground and gets a huge golden parachute.

It's just hard to see failure being rewarded so handsomely. Even if it isn't my money.

Did he deserve the contract? Apparently the people with the money though so.

Being paid what was contractually agreed to is not the same thing as what you're describing IMO.

It’s the age of NIL. all the money being wasted to buy out terrible coaches could go to buying better players for football baseball basketball etc.

It's not one or the other though. The people actually writing the checks have enough to do both. Regardless, the contract is what it is. Being upset about it is irrational.

I believe people worry it will lower our NIL money. But the reality is donors would decrease their donations if lsu kept Kelly at HC

Well, contractually, LSU is on the hook for that money. It’s great if a private person steps forward and foots the bill, but it’s still LSU’s obligation.
