If Nuss gets outplayed by MVB in practice this week, he should opt out asap

Prefacing this by saying I really want to see Nuss succeed. The kid is and will always be all LSU.

If MVB looks better than him in practice, then it's time to opt out asap.

It'll save face making it seem like he's opting out because of CBK leaving instead of being benched.

It's his best chance of saving whatever draft stock is left. The chances of balling out the rest of the year are stacked against him. I think he needs to make a business decision

I really wanted him to succeed, but I think that train has left the station.

We need to concentrate on recruiting Arch Manning over next year in the portal.

How did Nuss regress so badly? Is it true he didn’t put the time in during the off season?

Sunk money...he gets it either way. Play the guy who can run and get occupy another one of their guys like 99% of the rest of college football.

And you wonder why we can't defend a running QB?

Scarborough and Ruffino say it’s true. Sonny Shipp of 24/7 says it’s 100% false.

He's hurt. He got hurt in preseason camp.

"Regressing" would be making bad reads, but would not affect velocity. He can't throw right now. We saw when Van Buren came in, his first pass had more zip than anything Nussmeier has thrown this year.
We know when healthy, Nuss has a bigger arm than Van Buren.

It was just a shitty situation all around. Nuss would have been probably a 2nd round pick last year, he came back to win and go in the first.
Nuss' dad is an NFL OC and knows the league, likely told him he had to suck it up and play (well) through the pain, or he would freefall in the draft. There is no more redshirt, and he's not getting younger... this is his money year. He'd have all offseason and probably at least half of next season to get right, but he couldn't sit.
He tried, and couldn't do it. Kelly to his credit (depending on point of view) gave him that shot, to the detriment of the team. I don't know what the rules are, but I'd bet he's hopped up on muscle relaxers and was trying to make it work... he made shitty decisions in addition to his lack of velocity. You could tell the playcalling was catered to short throws (covering his injury as best they could), hoping the WRs could make plays.

If Nuss was healthy, we're probably no worse than one loss right now, in the thick of the race. And he's probably still in line for a 1st rd pick. And Kelly's safe.

It really sucks, but a coach has to be able to pivot. Barry Switzer won a national title after losing Troy Aikman to injury, by going to the wishbone with Jamelle Holloway. Kelly should have done something (not as drastic), going with the healthy guy and playing to his strengths. VB ain't Reed or Sellers, but he could have done well with the J Daniels playbook.

Would Nuss be the first play to opt out on two separate occasions during a college career??

Anyone who gets paid $3M to do something, perform or leave. Everyone needs to leave their feelings out of it.

NIL had changed it all.

Some of yall need to change your thinking.
