Tyrann Mathieu called RG3, wants the job.

Would I love him to coach LSU - hell yeah!
Same with Kelvin Sheppard.

But pump the brakes, the hell if LSU is hiring a coach with Zero HC experience.

Love Sheppard - but let’s relax on this.

This is my take on Joe Brady as well. Obviously he's got a great mind for football, but he has zero head coaching experience.

Idk Brady sounds good haha.

But I agree. Need HC experience at the minimum.

I’m very confused on this take. Have LSU fans not seen what coordinators to HC have done to the league? Arguably the best coaches today were all coordinators at their previous job

Instead they’d rather a G5 guy which is known to flop

Brady is a career coach with high level results vs Sheppard, who has been a coach for 4 years.

They are not the same

They have. And it can be done

I’m confused by your take, have you not seen what has happened with recent hires at LSU & Woodard?

Are you confused on how important this hire is after the disaster that was just created

Alright but I want you to report here when Shep becomes a successful coach elsewhere.

Exactly.

I think we all know the ones they’re taking serious and that’s probably Kiffin, Drink, Freeman, Sumrall, Lanning, …Saban

Names to erase from the search:
Mathieu
Sheppard
Brady
Franklin
Mullen
Meyer
O
Lea
Key
Brohm
Gruden
Jimbo
Matt Campbell
Golesh
Dabo

Other than sumrall, those would all come with insane buyouts

Can we consolidate all the Kelvin Sheppard threads with the 'What if Frank wins out?????' threads?

I'm all for hiring Lane Kiffin at this juncture. I think he's the boost this program needs, but....... as a whole, people need to get out of this mindset.

Every great HC wasn't a HC before they were . This is a silly mindset.

On that note, I agree with 100% about Kelvin Sheppard . I'm not advocating for a coordinator that has 4 years of total coaching experience with zero of it being in college. But, a great coordinator ready to jump to head coach is something that should always be an option because it's generally how you find your own great coach instead of always trying to hire someone who has been a head coach before.

We hired the guy with the most experience and it didn't work out.

You can erase Freeman, Lanning, and Saban as well....

Freeman won't leave Notre Dame. It would be silly to do so at this point in his career.

Lanning would cost massive amounts to dislodge him from Oregon to start with, and him leaving that situation he has up there would be borderline retarded.

Saban is 74 years old......let it go.

I’m also hoping they made this decision with that in mind. This is gonna be expensive as hell

Buying out our current coaches, paying for the next staff, NIL to hold on to our guys, NIL to possibly bring in some of the next HCs guys, etc.

How much HC experience did Brian Kelly have in 2022?
