Farewell, East Wing. Gone but never forgotten. History is the persistent guardian of memory.

Wouldn't the Trump Ballroom just become the East Wing? Do we lose compass points any time construction is done?

The way they are acting about the East wing makes me wonder what kind of shite they had hidden in the walls.

Then they should be excited that the quiet power and influence of that office that is unelected is gone.

It literally was just the tour intake center and a hallway leading you into the building. The White House movie theater was in it, but that’s about it. What a friking joke.

The surprise and shock that so many people have registered at the photographs of Donald Trump’s destruction of the East Wing of the White House—soon to be replaced by his own ostentatious and overscaled ballroom—is itself, in a way, surprising and shocking.

After months marked by corruption, violence, and the open perversion of law, to gasp in outrage at the loss of a few tons of masonry and mortar might seem oddly misjudged.
quote:
As Ronald Reagan said, after a victory more decisive than Trump could ever dream of, the President is merely a temporary resident, holding the keys for a fixed term. That was the beauty of it.

All of that is now gone. The act of destruction is precisely the point: a kind of performance piece meant to display Trump’s arbitrary power over the Presidency, including its physical seat. He asks permission of no one, destroys what he wants, when he wants.

who knew the east wing was more important than statues of the founding fathers that they love to tear down

Nothing says NPC more than being instantly outraged at the thing you never heard of or thought of even once before it became the current thing.

Since 1942.
They’re fake glorifying it because FDR built it & Trump. There never was any American who’d ever call it the HEART of anything. Ever.

About 72% of the new east wing will be modernized offices and spaces. Only 28% of it will be the ballroom.
They act like he’s just tearing it all down to build one enormous ballroom.

Sounds a little deep-statey, no?

They can’t stand the fact that Trump is getting things done and outmaneuvering their bureaucratic hurdles and red tape. They know this leaves a tangible and lasting legacy to President 47, hence the reason they want to tear it down if their party ever regains power.

Maybe Trump puts asbestos in it just to mess with 'em.

Yea so many Americans are just devastated about this. I was at the watercooler this morning at work and everybody gathered around the water cooler to talk about how emotionally devastated they were about the East wing of the white house. It was a very sad Monday morning at work

It's not gone though. They are rennovating making it a better and new addition.
I've been accused of that TDS bullshite before. But this here this is that. He's doing good and yet they want to dink him for something. This is a non issue. Half of dc is constantly under rennovation.

Journalism has been so easy the last 20 years, you just write whatever you personally feel as universal fact.

Shitbirds all about building-back-better ... so long as they the ones doing the building.
