At LSU, the AD will get a longer rope when he hires a 2x time natty winner for baseball moreso than probably any other football school in the country.
If you’d had asked me if I would take 2 nattys in baseball in the past 3 years in exchange for football being very average, I’d take that. It wasn’t Orgeron’s last 2 seasons level bad after all.

He definitely deserves a lot of hate. TWO hundred million dollar contracts that failed miserably? Sheesh. Dave portnoy was tweeting about this last night too. I doubt he’s safe - or he wouldn’t be if I were putting up any of this buyout cash.

FTR, I hope they fire his arse too. He should be nowhere near LSU athletics any more. If you listen to everything coming out, it seems Jay was found by one of the lady associate ADs or whatever the hell their titles were, the other chick helped get Mulkey here and Woodward's lone/main hire was Kelly.
Of course, I'm sure some of that is people also frustrated with Woodward, but literally everyone I've listened to has said that same thing.

They are good coaches but those two sports combined lose money even with 3 Nattys between the two of them bc WBB loses over $8M!

ive been a pretty big Woodward hater , besides JJ and KM of course, but I have to admit I was surprised and pleased how fast he pulled the trigger on BK.
I think most of us figured it would be end of the season at the earliest, with lots of people thinking it would be like 2027.
Hes got a chance to hit a home run now, so we'll see.

go back and look at the candidates that year. Outside Napier, he was going to pay close to a 10 year, 9 figure deal to someone. None of the dudes on that short list are doing well. I guess maybe he could have saved some money but still be in the same situation had he hired Napier instead of Kelly.
Fact of the matter is if you want an established HC, you're going to have to pay. And that market is only growing. Look at Kiffin. He's looking to get offers of 14 million/year both to stay at Ole Miss and to leave. That's 4.5 million more per year than Kelly was paid. Remember Jimbo's crazy deal Woodward signed, 10 years 75 million? That would be a bargain just 7 years later
I'll give Woodward credit for bagging an established HC from Notre Dame. That shite just doesn't happen. I'll also give him credit for pulling the trigger when it needed to be pulled. Most ADs would have been scared to make the move he did yesterday. If boosters are willing to foot the bill, why should we care.
