Kelly came here to win a natty but then NIL happened

BK thought he would come here and win a natty because of superior talent over his opponents. He’s a lazy coach, who didn’t really want to earn it. He wanted to show up on game day, with minimal involvement during the week.
Then NIL happened and the playing field got leveled. Talent was distributed across the country and coaching and talent evaluation has become the difference. And that’s been the problem with BK…. coaching and talent evaluation.

There is 0 chance he didnt know NIL was going to be a thing. He was just in WAY over his head

I don't disagree with this at all. I think he figured LSU could/would buy players like they, Bama, et al have done for years -- then the field was leveled.

I don’t think he came in with the intention to be lazy.
He wanted to do what he’s done his whole career his way, with superior talent to get him over the hump.
NIL /portal changed things greatly and Kelly had 0 desire to adapt so he checked out

I don't think NIL was the problem at all. I think Kelly's response and organizational moves around NIL will be the one positive thing about his legacy at LSU. We have a talented roster that isn't playing up to its potential and there isn't anything resembling a positive trend on that front. That's a coaching issue.

Lazy is the best word for him. He cashed in and coasted.

Sounds like he was Post 2019 Orgeron. Not putting in the work and chasing tail.

But then Matt House was hired....

Scott probably showed him our NILSU ads all over time square. Of course it was all fake and we ended up behind in NIL because Scott had no real plan

You do realize that BK was hired after the Supreme Court upheld the NIL decision, right?

I'm sure he will use NIL as one of his excuses.

I think hiring millionaires approaching retirement age is a bad idea. He wasn't giving the job his full and total attention. Just an old, tired jerkoff.

Yea hiring an old arse coach that has never won a nc was a big mistake.
The guy shows up to the facility just before 9 like his job is working the drive thru at McDonald’s

Doesn’t have anything to do with it, it just didn’t work out here. Not the worst record, not the best either. He wanted out and played the cards to make it happen yesterday.

I think the money was more important than winning a title for him.
Not only did NIL change, but so did the limit on only 25 players per year changed. Remember our roster was bare bones. Under the old rules it would have taken Kelly 3-5 years just to get a full roster

The SEC happened and he was overwhelmed by the level of coaching and attention to detail required to win here.

This. They were excellent at rebuilding the roster, frankly.
They did the hard shite well — they just couldn’t handle the simple task of playing the best players lol.

Wait, under BK we had the #1 NIL class last year.

Has nothing to do with NIL
Kelly was just overrated. He coached at a school where they played creampuffs for 90% of their games. The SEC is a different beast and he couldn’t cut it. That’s it.

Kelly came here for the $$$$ not to win games. I said that last year.
