would you rather get 25M now or 750,000 a month for 7 years. Plus, a lot of incentives to take the lump sum

750k a month for 7 years would put you ahead in most cases I'm pretty sure. Depends on how you invest really.

Assuming OP’s info is accurate, I’m guessing that BK is only accepting a lower buyout in exchange for LSU dropping the offset clause and requirement for him to actively seek another job.
