I've been out twice in the last year and a mixed drink for the wife and one for me comes out to around $30
I remember paying $10 cover and getting free drinks from 7-9

Did you go out a lot in college?
The only time I’ve heard of that scenario was Fred’s invitational. Which was a few times a year.

Everything’s expensive. They’re working side jobs to pay rent and make ends meet.

I've read that teens would rather have a cell phone than a car
When I was a kid back during the Taft administration I was willing to kill to get out of the house
Now they just stay home and play video games or text each other

1984 looked like this.
Tuesday: quarter beer at Murphy’s
Wednesday: 50 cent screwdrivers at Fred’s
Thursday: 75 cent Long Island Iced Tea at The Bengal.
Good times.

The Bengal
Tried to remember it for a nostalgia thread last week, could only remember "Tiger Something"

Here's a tip: your wife doesn't want to go to the places that had penny pitchers. The cheat code is a Mexican restaurant. Everyone knows you're going there to get blasted, but it's somehow OK because you call it dinner and buy your kids quesadillas. They specialize in getting women tanked cheap. Even teachers know this.

Tiger Lounge was catty corner from the Bengal.

I think I’ve seen reports that younger generations consume a lot less alcohol. If that’s true, then it would make sense college bar attendance would suffer. Couple that with the conveniences of modern technology shifting the parameters of social interaction, as well as the rising costs of going out. Maybe it’s just a sign that times they are a changing. Could be permanent or cyclical.

The Brown Door should be a historical landmark.

Our little college town had 4 bars fighting for customers so we had 4 different nights a week of $10 all you can drink.
