Not even just the poor. It seems every black person I’m friends with on FB is sharing shite about how if the food stamps don’t hit, their kids are gonna be eating Ramen for Thanksgiving. These are people I KNOW aren’t poor. How the frick as these people getting on these benefits and where the frick is their shame??

No. Statistically most middke class and up black families contribute exactly the same as middle class and up white families.

Some cultures have no shame when they know how to work the system. The system encourages you to keep your mouth shut and pay your taxes

Bro it’s not even just the ones with no jobs. It’s the ones working apparently learned to game the system as kids and STILL do it

The how has been passed down from generation to generation.
And no. They have no shame.

shame
Not isolated to a particular race. Generations of blacks and whites although a smaller percentage, are dependent on the government. It’s all they have known. Breaking the cycle will be painful but for those who get through it will know freedom like they have never had.

It's the same having a baby.

Shame is one of the biggest things missing in our society today. I personally know 2 black women who are not on food stamps, and neither is anywhere near wealthy. One of them used to work a second and third job to provide for her sons. Too many are on assistance who shouldn’t be though, and it pisses me off because of women like them who prove it can be done.

I work with a lady making close to 200K who is still able to get food stamps.

I think there is a culture of bragging and a culture of shame that defines each, but I don't see the huge distinction it in the stats. Trashiness is more socioeconomic than anything. Apropos of everything, blacks are on average lower on the socioeconomic scale. Because of the white man of course.

If a couple is not married - then the other adult’s income does not have to be claimed. You only have to work about 20 hours a week to get food stamps (if you are healthy). If you have a child with a disability (think of all the seemingly healthy people with handicap tags) you might be able to get food stamps easier.
There’s no way to trace cash transactions - so if they own their own small business then they could be making a lot of cash that’s untraceable income.
This is not. Limited to black ppl

This is one of those heinous untrue stereotypes like no tipping or being on Bluetooth all day for no reason

The ladies in our cleaning service at work will only work around 35 hours. I asked one why and she said any more than that and they will loose their benefits. So yes, they play the game they were taught.

Can elderly and disabled folks get food stamps? If so, it seems like a good program for the folks who really need it. But too many folks are gaming the system, or so I hear...

If an elderly person has a big fat retirement - they are not going to get food stamps. My mom’s retirement is terrible and she doesn’t even qualify for food stamps.
In Louisiana, a family of one person must make about $1600 or less to qualify for food stamps. And that person will only get about $300 in food stamps.
Whatever is in your bank accounts is counted, too. So if you’re saving for a rainy day - it’s going to count against you if you want food stamps. We used to ask how much people had in their wallets at the interviews. I bet that’s not done anymore
