The National debt surpasses $38 trillion

The U.S. national debt surpassed another historic milestone as it topped $38 trillion for the first time this week, as the federal government continues to rack up debt at a record-setting pace.
New data from the Treasury Department released on Wednesday showed that the gross national debt reached $38,019,813,354,700.26 as of Oct. 21.
The $38 trillion milestone comes a little over two months after the U.S. national debt reached $37 trillion for the first time in mid-August, and less than a year after the $36 trillion threshold was breached last December.
America's debt has grown rapidly over the last decade as the population ages and enrollment in Social Security and Medicare rises. Another key driver of the surging debt is interest expenses incurred from servicing the federal debt, which have swelled due to higher interest rates put in place to curb inflation as well as the growth in the debt itself
quote:
"If it seems like we are adding debt faster than ever, that's because we are. We passed $37 trillion just two months ago, and the pace we're on is twice as fast as the rate of growth since 2000," he added.
Peterson noted that the costs of servicing the national debt are rising, as they cost the U.S. about $4 trillion over the last decade and are estimated at $14 trillion in the next 10 years, adding that interest costs "crowd out important public and private investments in our future, harming the economy for every American."

You CANNOT fix this without entitlement reform. We need to get the government out of the health care and pension business as soon as possible.

Companies took away pensions. The second they start dipping into our 401ks, I’ll just off myself.
I also don’t take drugs. So many Americans are addicted to drugs. It’s the healthcare way in this country. I’d love to see it implode like most drug cartels do.

There is pretty much nothing any single president could do to change that.
If it’s at that much, the amount of spending is so obnoxiously high that it’s pretty impossible to change that at this point

You don’t have any treasury bonds in your retirement account?
Gonna be a lot of fricked over people if the gov defaults on those things.

no one is ever going to do anything about it, ever. No elected politician in this country will ever make any hard decisions that will hurt their next election .
so it will just be ignored, maybe brought up around election time to score points, but no one will touch it.

This is a pallet of $100 bills. $100 million in $100 bills.
$38 trillion = 380,000 pallets
Each $100M pallet would be 4 ft × 4 ft × 4 ft
380,000 pallets × (4 ft × 4 ft) = 6,080,000 sq ft
That’s roughly 140 acres, or about 105 football fields (end zones included).
If laid end to end, $38 trillion in $100 bills would stretch about 36.8 million miles.

You’re not wrong, but don’t expect any serious proposals to be promoted any time soon.

What would happen if the government just printed out 38 trillion, didn’t tell anyone and sent out payment on all the bills lol. Say we owe China 10 trillion, we just send printed out money and said hey here you go on the low.

Most Western countries are going to default. They are demographic ticking time bombs.
They'll destroy the dollar and implement a CBDC and social credit scores like China. It's already being pushed in England and Australia. WEF shite.
