The great OCs get plucked every year to be a HC somewhere. This forces you to take a risk on someone like Sloan, who was instrumental in JD5’s development as the QB coach.
Hot take, I think Sloan can actually be a good OC here if he had a running QB. His system is built around the read option. His problem is that he refuses to adjust when his QB doesn’t run and we’re stuck in the 2010 RPO game that defenses figured out 10 years ago.
