Warner Bros. Discovery Is for Sale After All, as “Multiple Parties” Circle

Sounds like Warner Bros. Discovery is for sale after all.
Amid swirling reports of bidding interest by Paramount Global, the WBD board of directors says is it “has initiated a review of strategic alternatives to maximize shareholder value.” That’s the first acknowledgement of a (metaphorical) “For Sale” sign hanging from the iconic WB water tower.
In a press release on Tuesday morning, the Warner Bros. Discovery board of directors said it has received “unsolicited interest” from “multiple parties.” And it’s listening.

It is unclear how serious potential offers outside of Paramount would be. Netflix was not interested in buying legacy media assets, but didn’t want WBD to go to another buyer at a low price, a source familiar with the matter said.
While Comcast does not feel the need to do a deal, it will look at the possibility of pursuing WBD, sources close to the company told CNBC’s Julia Boorstin.
For any buyer that just wants WBD’s studio and streaming assets, acquiring them after a split later this year is better for tax purposes.
Paramount and WBD spokespeople declined to comment. Netflix and Comcast did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

So you cut down on family sharing and immediately jack up the prices.

Putting new tires on their used car before they raise their selling price.

Yep, Paramount or maybe universal will ultimately win out.

You don't need them all all the time. Just cycle through them.

HBO can still throw out a must watch Sunday show like Task every now and then along with comedies like Hacks. They need Danny McBride working overtime to create a new show to replace Gemstones.
Apple is the only streamer delivering both quality and quantity. They just need to advertise it. I go out of my way to look up new shows and I still get surprised by new additions like the Scorsese documentary or the Michelin award show this week.
Maybe Tim Cook can look in Apple’s couch cushions to swoop in and purchase WB because I have no confidence in Paramount doing anything but running it into the ground or giving control of Harry Potter/GoT to Taylor Sheridan.

So they jacked up the prices to give current employees a nicer severance package when the business gets sold. frick the consumers, amirite?

They need all the money they can get to make 7-8 episode seasons of watered down game of thrones content that takes 2-3 years to make!

I wonder if it'll still be included with my ATT fiber? That's the only reason I have it.

Any hope that whomever buys that division doesn't further bog down HBO Max with reality show bullshite and gets back to more creative, original content?
