quote:

It burns to write this, but: It’s time for Curtis Sliwa to face reality, and admit that the city’s best hope to avoid the disaster of a Zohran Mamdani mayoralty is for him to drop out of the race.

Sliwa is absolutely right that it’s not his fault that New York is in this corner, but fault isn’t the issue here.

The simple fact is that the Republican nominee is far back in third place in every poll, with zero chance of winning.

quote:

If Republicans had come up with a more credible candidate, with a second line less eccentric than Protect Animals, we’d likely now be demanding that Cuomo drop right now.

quote:

But the fact remains that Mamdani is poised to win and do major, deadly damage to the lives of all New Yorkers: He must be stopped.

It stinks, but for the sake of the city you love so deeply, Curtis, please swallow this bitter pill.

I'm kind of split here. I want to see the carnage Mamdani would bring. Might set back NYC for generations.

On the other hand, I don't want NYC to implode more than it already has.

I fail to understand this strategy to stop Dances with Camels.

F NY. If shoe was on other foot, a democrat would never back out to let a republican & independent go head to head.

It's sad that apparently the best a great city like New York city can do for the city's executive leadership position is these three losers.

If Mamdani gets elected he will fill his administration with the extreme left socialists. It will be hard for New York to get them out once they’ve taken a hold of the government.

I have seen it be said that Cuomo is in to assist Mandani. Was he paid to be the heel? Maybe they should have gotten Guiliani's son to run? Is it too late?

I don't think it is worth teaching a bunch of imbecile Marxist BernieBros a lesson. They can be left wanting to run from communism and state run grocers; and they will STILL think it would have worked with a different BernBro Marxist.

This is absolutely what needs to happen. Let them lie in the bed they make.

That's cute that you all think this stuff happens in a vacuum.

I don't care about NY, but I don't want these bastards getting a foot hold in politics.

Didn't Muslims at one time try to buy ground zero and put a mosque there? I am sure Mamdani would have approved it if he were mayor then.

I feel for the sensible people in NY. They will have to move. But let the world see him in action.

Your take is correct, but on the other hand, until these people know true consequence, they will continue to behave this way. Maybe NYC needs some extremely tough love…

It's cyclical. Always has been. NYC was a complete dump on the verge of bankruptcy in the 1970's. They then elected a (somewhat) moderate in Koch and started to come back in the 1980's. Guiliani really cleaned things up in the 90's. Then Bloomberg tried to pretend to be a Conservative before giving way to a virtue signaler in de Blasio. NYC is now (likely) about to continue the tank (though not as bad as the 70's) with the next election before the pendulum will start to swing back in the other direction.

What does the city council look like and how much power do they yield. All of these policies the guy proposes can be stopped with a strong city council in most places.
