LSU paid for a national championship coach when it plundered Notre Dame’s cupboard, but it got Brian Kelly.

Brian Kelly showed us who he was at Notre Dame. LSU didn’t believe him. It bought that Kelly could be something he’d never proven to be: a shark suited for the SEC's ruthless waters.

And now that Kelly’s continued to be exactly who he’s always shown he is — a steady winner who consistently loses the big games — whose fault is that?

I find it interesting that all of these national publications are coming out with these BK hit pieces. Seems like after Ole Miss these were not present.

I saw tons of YouTube post game podcasts over the weekend that all talked about “Brian Kelly’s hot seat”. They could just be guessing but it seems as though the consensus is that what BK is turning in is not up to LSU’s standard (and they’d be right).

And what was that? ND was famously irrelevant since 1988 and BK brought them back to relevancy with a NC appearance and a playoff berth. Freeman inherited a program that was in great shape.

Before ND, BK made Cincinnati good. Brought damn Cincinnati to a sugar bowl.

I don’t understand this need to rewrite history. We can say that BK has not gotten it done at LSU without making shite up. It’s starting to sound like an emotional woman talking shite about an ex who dumped her.

His 2012 natty run was a Potemkin village.

Go look at the games. A bunch of close calls against bad teams. They had a good defense that shut down less talented opponents.

Then they played bama and it was men v boys.

Well you are either a shark or chum and right night we are another loss away from being SEC Chum.

LSU whiffed on this one and it’s time to just admit it. They whiffed on the contract too which is heartbreaking considering his buyout is a few years from being manageable.

You mean the guy who went 2-0 against LSU while at Notre Dame?

Same thing happened with Notre Dame last year and there was no end of Irish love.

And yet it was a NC game appearance. I’m not going to downplay it. No, they couldn’t beat Bama. Nobody else could either. Bama humiliated LSU in the NC game just one year prior.

Well let’s be honest, that would have been the case no matter who those Bama teams played.

BK has LSU in a lot more stable spot than we were in 2021.

The foundation here is solid. If he leaves or whatever history will be kind to him by Tiger fans

He inherited a depleted roster which always takes time to rebuild. It’s also a time when all coaches are learning how to navigate portal and NIL. Look at how many other up and coming coaches have failed recently. It’s a tough job and takes time. It took Harbaugh about six years to really get Michigan rolling.

This season sucks and I can’t argue that BK is not getting it done, but LSU fans also have no sense of reality. Very emotional.

He turned ND around in the middle of tenure. He has the ability to, I just think this current game is not his era anymore.

Regardless, being HC and keeping us between 8-4, 9-3 for a handful of years after the bottom fell out in 2021 is not the worse. Half this board wanted Napier at the time. He left FLA worse off

The fault is on Woody who had to throw money at BK because he was the last big name left out there. Had to save face. Just throw money at a problem and hope it works...

You don’t mind rewriting it yourself. They finished 12-1 and were no. 2 in the final polls in 1989. They finished no. 6 in 1990. 10-3 and finished no. 12 in the country in 1991. 10-1-1 in 1992 and finished no. 4 in the country. 11-1 and finished no. 2 in the country in 1993. 9-3 and finished no. 12 in 1995. They werebad in the Willingham, Davies and Weiss years, but I do not understand why you have to rewrite history about them being irrelevant for 20 years before BK showed up. He appeared in one national Championship game in 12 years, the same number as CEO did in half the time.

His winning percentage at Notre Dame was lower than it is here and it was lower than Lou Holtz’s winning percentage at Notre Same during his time from 1986-1996.

And warnings by Notre Dame fan. base were ignored. They were so glad to get rid of him. LSU should have paid more attention before paying king’s ransom for BK.
