He’s old, rich and has mailed it in. He thought if O and Les could win here, he could do so with little effort.
He’s past the point of having what it takes to win here, or anywhere, at a championship level.

That he does. He’s depending on coordinators and position coaches to do his job. He needs to look in the mirror, grab his balls and step up. But, alas, he cannot because his burned up, the victim of his own wealth and ego.

By year 4, all 3 coaches before Kelly won a Natty and Kelly is at risk of not making a 12-team playoff if we don't win out.

Asking because I genuinely don't know - but I see this a lot on here. Is this just something people are saying or is Brian Kelly really spending a large amount of time playing golf. Genuine question - not trying to be a smartass.

Agree 100%! His ego thought he could walk in and coast LSU to a championship since Les and O did it. He missed his chance with JD5 and that shitty defense. His coordinator hires will be his downfall.

He was never at that level. You have to be at that level in order to pass it. He's never won a NY6 bowl in his life. Fat Woodward got exactly what he over paid for.

What allowed Nick Saban to stay successful throughout his career was he never left the trenches and always was deeply involved.
Did he delegate m, of course but he was on Top of everything being the control freak he is.
Look all these coordinators have some skill that gives them an opportunity at their job to be successful. Doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out how to best use the personnel that you have on the team.
Saying all that, when a coordinator struggles, I always end up blaming the Head Coach because they are the manager and boss of that position coach and coordinator. As the boss you are supposed to help get the best out of their employees.
Kelly has been around football for way too long to not be able to help his coaches be more successful at their jobs.
Kelly has failed multiple times in this area already and he is only in year 4.
You don’t need to get 3 strikes every time before you’re out in this particular game.
But we are tied to him at least another year.

It’s my understanding that the players despise Kelly. I think some of the assistants, even Sloan, are well liked but that Kelly is truly despised by the locker room. That says a lot.
