dammit, i had to be somewhere so it was just a fleeting sign i passed.
i'm sure y'all are going to mock me for not knowing this before now but the last time i went to Dannys was probably in 1979 when i could walk there from my house in Town & Country with $2 in my pocket and get a thigh and dirty rice or some gizzards.
if this still tastes the same i'm willing to make the drive just to go there next time i'm in FL.

seriously, i dont think i even went to one in the 80s; once the ones around monroe closed up i just assumed dannys was a part of history.
i can still taste the chicken & dirty rice.

The only locations listed on their website are Morgan City and Houma.

Houma and Morgan city are owned by the same people. Franklin is owned by someone else.

Little me loved some Danny’s in the early 80s. I seem to recall pudding in a styrofoam container that was in the choose your own sides/desserts section.

my neighbors family owns it. Danny's started in 1968 and had 10-12 DFC at one time (around 2008 - most were franchises).

damn good chicken
My brother picked up some from Houma last time I was home. I was surprised by how good it was. The breasts were juicy and the seasoning was great. I was surprised how well it still stacks up by today's standards.

Just had the one in Morgan city. Good sides and roll. Chicken is pretty good. I remember it a little better but it’s been 35 years since I had it.

There was one in Ponchatoula in the 80's. My dad always referred to it as the poor man's Popeyes.
It must've been good because we used to get it every other Sunday.

They have this one in Robertsdale (AL) that I pass once in a while... not sure if it's the same

There's one on Grand Cailliou Road in Houma.

Morgan City location is still open. Clint is about to close up for a couple months and renovate but its still open as of today. And it is some damn good chicken!
Clint owns the MC and Houma locations. Franklin is owned by a franchisee.

Bucket of Danny's fried chicken and a Saturday on the Tchefuncte river was my summers as as kid.

Brook’s general store in Mt Herman uses the Danny’s recipes.
