I’m so tired of the “fit for LSU” coaching narrative.

It’s a stereotype that makes us sound like ignorant backwoods coonasses.

Saban was from West Virginia and spent most of his coaching career in the Midwest. Miles was from Ohio and was a “Michigan Man.” Dinardo played at Notre Dame. When they won, we loved them.

If being one of us helps you win then that’s great, but it’s not the primary factor.

We don’t care if you are from down the bayou or even the South for that matter. We care if you WIN. We want competent coaching.

With the new pay for play era, being native will be even less important.

I wish the national media would stops beating that narrative.

When Saban was hired he was a 48 year old journeyman who ended up being the best coach in LSU history.

Fit doesn't matter. A winner matters. Saban was known for being a gigantic a-hole with little personality when he came here. He won. And he won a lot. People loved the a-hole.

BK has built a winner, but can't take LSU to the next level. LSU fans expect a next-level winner. Therefore, he is not a good fit.

You see it brought up a little anywhere in the country. If Kirby Smart were to go to Penn State there would be some that questioned a cultural fit. We do seem to hear it louder when someone comes down here though.

It’s only a talking point because Kelly obviously sucks at getting his message through to players, and felt the need to fake an accent. Try not to let it get to you.

Well when Kelly comes in throwing a fake accent to the media talking about Fahmulee he pretty much signaled that he didn’t fit in here.

I think you're missing the point. They don't mean you have to be from here, exactly. They mean, you just have to have the personality and the ability to deal with people who are very outgoing, fun loving, loyal to our traditions and values, and family oriented. I don't think that Brian Kelly is any of those things. He is a cheater on his family, he is unable to carry on a jovial conversation and have a good time. He accuses us of being spoiled and talks us down like we're children. He obviously thinks he's better than the Louisiana people ge is representing. It's not about where you're from it's about how you relate to people, and how you act.
He is an arrogant, narcissistic, prick.

You sound bit insecure.

Kelly is an arrogant a-hole that would be a bad fit at most places that expect to win.

Hes just not an elite coach. He coached in weak leagues and when he played with the big boys he was exposed. Were stuck with this clown for at least 2 more years unfortunately. This defense is not the same without Wit and it sowed when he was out a half earlier in the season. The OC needs to go and Kelly does as well he is in over his head.

The media sells that crap. You are correct. The stereotype needs to die. And fans who use it as an explanation for anything are sheep who believe TikTok is an accurate source of news.

And people still wanted him fired after the UAB game.

People need to let the ‘accent’ thing go….there may be a handful of players still with LSU from that moment, and if they are still with the team it means they don’t care.

He could be the world’s biggest gaping a-hole. If he won, people would say he was “their a-hole.” Nick Saban was a giant a-hole to almost everyone he encountered during his career.

Fit doesn't mean he has to hunt and eat crawfish, it just means that he's not a phony and can make friends within the community, Saban was able to do that, Miles was able to do that, O was able to do that..hell Dinardo had a restaurant here.... BK seems unable to make friends in BR , once he leaves LSU he may never step foot in Louisiana

I think people just don't like him in general. His personality. And then they equivalate that with not fitting in after the fact

It's not as important in this era as it used to be, but I think it's still important. You've got to be able to go to that family and convince them that LSU is the place for their son. Saban is an a-hole but he could do that.

I think the fit issue with Kelly is that he was used to coaching smarter players at Notre Dame. We don't get the smartest, we get athletic players who have to be taught.

Another issue is that Kelly can't seem to evaluate the team or its players accurately. He hasn't adjusted to the level of competition in the SEC. He thinks we're ready or good and we suck.
