so, salary ballast. Which sounds great until you consider that you’ll have much more than 7MM coming back, for a team right up against the tax. They should have declined

Since we haven't heard anything about Jaden Springer, I wonder if they plan on keeping him as an exhibit 10 going into the season.

Absolute waste of money on a guy who will never contribute in Hawkins. 7 mil taken away in cap space for him is idiotic

People saying trade bait but he has very little trade value if any at all

I like Bassey's energy and rebounding. I would love to sign him.

I cannot see any reason to pick up Hawkins' option. It does not help facilitate a trade as it adds another year onto his contract. At least he was an expiring if they have not made this move.

Yeah we will see b he is pretty bad at basketball. But some team might gamble on his shooting. I really don't want him getting any minutes on this team at all tho.

especially since the current FO didn’t draft him. Picking up that option makes zero sense either on or off the court

Also- Jaden Springer apparently made the team since he wasn't waived. So on a partial guaranteed standard min. deal. Surprising, especially when that 15th spot could go to a big like Bassey. Makes Jose more tradeable?

The Pel are already over the cap but not into the luxury tax, it makes no sense not to pick up Hawkins options because it's not like we can use that 7 million and just sign a player with it but it's super beneficial as filler in a trade.

Thanks for this, very informative info. So what does everyone think, is he likely to get traded or stick around after this extension news?

Who is still here that took part in that draft pick? Who values "heart" and "determination" and "being a team family member" more than being a good basketball player?

The Pels are roughly at $198 million with an expected luxury tax of around $201. $7 million to Hawkins is downright malpractice.
