Who they’ve played so far

Charleston Southern 1-6
Offense PPG 15.6 111th in FCS
Defense PPG 29.7 76th in FCS

Virginia Tech 2-5
Off. PPG: 23.0 99th
Def. PPG: 29.3 106th

South Carolina 3-3
Off. PPG: 22.3 104th (played them without Sellers most of the game)
Def. PPG: 19.0 32nd

Georgia State 1-5
Off. PPG: 18.0 123
Def PPG: 37.5 135

Utah State 3-3
Off. PPG: 34.7 37th
Def. PPG: 32.7 125

Alabama 5-1
Off PPG: 34.7 36th
Def PPG: 17.3 22nd

Utah and Alabama Scored 35 and 30
on them.

They scored 14 vs Alabama.

LSU has played some duds but we haven’t played a single defense outside the top 40.

But Georgia State is just a disgustingly bad team on both sides of the ball. So is VTech. Charleston Southern is one of the worst FCS teams in the country.

They were hyped up last year too. They finished 3-5 in SEC, 7-6 overall

Sports media loves a darling & Vandy fits that bill.

Except Vegas isn’t playing along & installed the Tigahs as an underdog, but they won’t let little facts like that get in the way of their narrative.

Trade Vandy’s win over Alabama last year for a win over Georgia State and no one is talking about Vandy this year

We did play Southeastern, but yes shockingly enough every other team is below 40th ranking in scoring defense

There is some truth to that. But they are a good football team. They have some really experienced and talented players. They are not nearly as talented as we are but they are a well coached and disciplined team. Cannot make silly mistakes like we did against South Carolina.

Now they do have a lot more hype than they maybe deserve but thats honestly a good thing.

Their non-conference SOS is actually better than ours (thank you Southeastern).

SOS: LSU- 5, Vandy- 18
Future SOS: LSU- 4, Vandy- 8
In-conference SOS: LSU- 19, Vandy- 6
Non-conference SOS: LSU- 25, Vandy- 19

Vegas knows the public has heard that cute Vanderbilt narrative all year and put the spread accordingly. If they put LSU as the favorite all the money would go to home “Top20” Vandy getting points. They gotta get the bets even.

I’m with the OP. Vandy is a decent team, but not a Top20 team. LSU wins by 10+.

Yep. And they have a good coach. Pavia is a tough competitor and their offense is creative. It was a 6-point game in the 4th quarter at Bama until under 5 minutes to go on the game. So they are obviously pretty good.

They don't have as much talent as us, but they are well coached and have enough talent to knock us off if we don't play well.

Agree. They are going to play LSU tough. I think Haulcy and Cooley are the keys defensively. They are a run first team and the ability of our safety room to run support but also keep their TE covered will determine how much success Vandy's offense has.

Offensively it's patience. Can Nuss take what the defense gives and not give in to his tendency to make risky plays? Can Sloan stay patient with the run game? Put the ball in the paly makers' hands and let them make plays.

Southeastern would Boat Race Charleston Southern.

Those numbers are a fricking joke.

The only thing redeemable in their schedule is Bama and they lossy but 16 points.

Oh really? Can you explain how Vegas put Arch as the Heisman favorite?

They are going to throw to the tight end and running back in the flats a bunch. Especially off split zone and play action. Haulcy and Cooley coming down hill is 100% a key in this game. Thats the best aspect of their passing attack.

They absolutely make the spread to get even money on both sides… And betting public perception is absolutely a part of that equation.

The spread isn’t a measure of who is going to win the game and by how much. It’s getting even money on both sides.

i don’t think going horizontal is going to work on us.

Too much speed with our OLB and too much quality with the safeties.

I think we win comfortably. Like last week but we don’t fumble at the goal line again.
