More regulation for business, instead of more incarceration for criminals.
Relax, said the democrat

You can check-out in any line you like
But you can run past for free!

The city's 'Safe Stores are Staffed Stores' ordinance forces major grocery and pharmacy chains to staff up at least one employee for every three self-checkout stations.
The rule also caps self-checkout transactions at 15 items and bans the sale of locked-up goods — such as razors or baby formula — through self-checkouts.
Fines start at $100 per employer, per day. Both customers and employees can sue if they find shops aren't playing by the rules.

California really wants to run all of businesses out the State.

So Long Beach thinks we have a store staffing issue and not a criminal customer issue? Can't make this shite up. California is truly the land of fruits and nuts.

What a dumbass law passed by dumbass people.

So they just increased the cost overhead at those stores that will be passed on to the consumer…

Increase overhead, increase loss through theft with resultant decrease in stores in the area.

And if that poor employee tries to intervene and stop a theft they will likely be (a) fired (b) injured with no consequences for the criminal or (c) injure the thief and be fired and prosecuted.

If people will stop d*** stealing this wouldn't have to happen.
If theft is up fifty percent in the last five years, the stores might close all together.

Criminals aren’t committing crimes… the employers are? Sounds like sound CRT to me lol.

How are a few more minimum wage employees going to make the store safer?

Higher prices will lead to more theft

Walmart in CA has all the hair and face care products behind glass and a separate cash register for products there.
It’s because CA has a theft problem. It’s not a staffing problem.
I needed something last week on a work trip and left because I’m not chasing down an employee for a locked up razor.
They also have a crew of private security guards in and around the stores.
This one wasn’t in the hood. They needed the extra security due to CA allowing petty theft

California is so cool. They punish the businesses for having been stolen from, and refuse to prosecute the shoplifters and thieves.
Long Beach used to be such an awesome place back in the 80s. I'd never go there again even if my life depended upon it.

They should require a few employees to train and pack.

They fire the staff if they try to impede theft.
