So Kelly is fine letting the OL struggle for one player’s “development”

This is absurd. You coach to win the game, especially when there is no guarantee that player even returns to the team each year.

So once again, Kelly is letting a single recruit he possibly promised a starting job, to dictate the team rather than doing what is best for the team as a whole.

So Davis stays at Right Tackle, hurts the team and puts the offense in a massive hole. He’s shown no improvement all season and yet, people are simply supposed to be like, “yeah, he will be great in two years” after Kelly begged fans to buy him a championship team with their NIL donations.

Sounds a lot like what he e did forcing Sloan as OC.

Davis' passing grade from PFF was a 30 and overall was a 44.6 vs SC.

So, Kelly should start MVB due the underperformance from Nuss or he don't count?

Kelly stated in his press conference that Davis has made some mistakes but he’s willing to live with those mistakes because it accelerates his development and he believes Davis will be a very good tackle for LSU. Some people are acting shocked that we are playing younger OLine this year. We knew that before the season started.

That's because PFF works in black and white and doesn't grade on any sort of curve. As a viewer who understands that Weston should get totally dominated by Dylan Stewart, I thought it was pretty clear that Weston didn't get completely bullied and even showed on a couple occasions that he can handle SEC competition. He passed off twists in pass protection well a couple times, which is something he struggled to do against SLU, so I actually consider Saturday a small success for Weston. Run blocking still has to improve.

It’s not about youth. Davis has been atrocious and shown little to no improvement 6 games in. A few good snaps here and there aren’t going to erase what he has been all season.

Being 5-1 with no wins vs a P4 team with a winning P4 record is an accomplishment?

I think the key point here is when will he become a "very good tackle"?

If he truly thinks that Davis will develop into one this season to help get LSU through the toughest part of the season, then fine. I have no problem with him thinking that, but it better work out or the rant will be coming for him.

OTOH, if Davis is a project that will eventually become a good tackle then do what every other good coach does and sit him behind a better player and give him time to learn - and garbage time at the end of games.

Assuming, of course, that a better tackle actually exists that can run with the 1's.....

My thought is that the offense took some good positive steps against USCe. If that improvement continues over the next three games then BK bet on the right horse. Otherwise....

This is dumb.

He’s playing who he thinks is the best lineup.

What exactly does he have to gain by sitting better players?

The truth of the matter is low IQ fans often see backups perform well in situations that fit their limited skillset well or vs lesser competition, and just assume they're better than the starter who is often facing better competition and situations that may not always fit his skill set.

Ive seen Damone Clark do a complete 180 in a year but I don't think you can afford to just struggle like that for a year along the offensive line. We don't slide protection over or help him out like we should either. Ive seen more missed chip blocks this year than the past five years combined.

Ultimately, it’s who we have… We have to live with it, it’s reality. We can’t go pick up some slap dick off the street.

Sounds like CBK is saying that Davis is improving and will quickly be better over the long run than replacing him right now.

I have no reason why people downvoted you for this. It is the absolute truth. Not only do people on here say that and see that, so do most of the pros that have given their analysis of the game. Look anywhere on YouTube at the different analyst from ESPN on the tiger bait on the Carter the power hour just about anyone points out how sorry arse he has been. What you posted is the absolute truth and fact

Kelly isn't going to throw a kid under the bus at a weekly news conference. The question was worded considerately, but Kelly dodged it. And since the media doesn't get to watch practice we have no idea who's practicing at RT this week.

You people that are saying, "Aw, he wasn't that bad against South Carolina" couldn't have watched the game in person. His run blocking was non-existent. His attempts to pass block lasted about a split-second.

The weird thing is they had Carius Curne -- who is already better than Davis -- on the sideline and never used him for a single snap.
