President is ousted - elections in 2 years?

An elite military unit in Madagascar says it has seized power, ousting the country's embattled President Andry Rajoelina

The CAPSAT unit has suspended key democratic institutions, including the constitutional court and the electoral commission, but has promised elections within two years

one of my favorite youtube rabbit holes is always picking some random central african country and watching videos about its political unrest. They are all generally the same.... horrible country with no resources or industry, the colonial power pulls out or is run out... bloody conflict over the power vaccum left, and one side seizes power only to exploit people..rinse and repeat every few years.

It's almost irrelovant which country you pick... it's the same story everytime.

Rhodesia was smartly designed. They were educating some of the locals to eventually take over in 30-40 years after they set the country up. They were rich and had the highest standard of living in the continent. But since they were a minority rule country we and everyone not named Israel and South Africa opposed them.
Then we got Zimbabwe and one of the poorest countries in the world. It wasn't rascim. It was the fact that the populace was uneducated and unable to self govern.

I don’t think they have a chance though. Taking on African territories and then heading north is almost impossible.
