I like Rattler's emotions on the Field. I think it is authentic that he wants to win.

We have had Starting QBs pre-Brees that it felt like they were just collecting a check. It feels like Spencer care most about being a winner.

It makes this brutal season easier to stand - knowing that there are some guys that truly care.

I am still not convinced that Rattler can be the future at the position but he's improved a lot from last season and even from game 1 to game 5. HE seem to be seeing the game much slower now, but still have improvements to make in timing and placement.

He does a good job of blocking out the noise and just focusing on improving. He also seems to have grown into a leadership role as you would hope to see from your QB.

Don't know what his ceiling is but he seems to have a pretty high floor.

Gotta let him develop to fully evaluate this, but so far he’s been showing fantastic improvement every week. He’s only in his second year; need more data to see.

But damn the dude is fun to watch. I’d be happy to never see Shough see the field; it means Rattler has become a good QB for us.

Gotta find a way to score TDs when in red zone, do that and he is definitely playing better football

He wants to win football games!?!?

Genius! I never would have expected that. I thought he was trying to go 1-11. Glad he got that all figured out. True leadership!

you're a fricking fool. you're on the list of posters with extreme hate bias, so feel free to take a break from any and all discussions on the development of the current QB1 on this roster. listen closely when I say that any positive discussions here by rational, forward thinking posters in regards to Rattler is in NO WAY anointing him as the next coming of Brees much less the future of the franchise. I feel pretty confident saying no one thinks this. But, we are willing to let the new staff and hc do their jobs and evaluate/develop who they see fit. I see this team in all aspects trending in the right direction (including QB) save for the aging guys and some that we should probably move on from in the skill positions.

Or maybe I’m just a rational person who knows how to take the black and gold glasses off, unlike many on these forums.

Also, please step away from the computer and take a breath. This is sports. It’s not life or death serious, and you seem to really be getting yourself worked up about it.

no you're not. you keep going in every single thread bashing and throwing shite at people that merely mention rattlers name in a positive light. if anybody needs to step away, it's you. Im not getting worked up about it at all. I'm just tired of listening to you and a handful of other posters pissing in every thread and making it intolerable to even discuss this team with any bit of positivity. im fine with being critical of a player, coach, etc. but at some point the excessive nature becomes toxic and nauseating. that's all I'm saying.

I was pretty against Rattler at the start of this season, but what I saw yesterday was most impressive.

He is poised in the pocket - he gets through his progressions. He seems to know individual traits of his receivers for the first time as a starter now (which makes sense since he's had way too much turnover at WR/TE until recently).

He intentionally leads or throws behind receivers to either "throw them open" or to "avoid hospital balls". He slides in the pocket like a seasoned vet and continues scanning his WR options while calculating whether or not to scramble.

I actually think he can be a legit starting QB for the first time. Definitely want to see it again and again and again, but I'm very hopeful.

He reminds me of a young Baker Mayfield. I also think that his ceiling is Baker Mayfield (maybe not current Baker which is MVP caliber, but the amalgamation of Baker's first 2 years at Tampa, which is good enough to compete with).

I’m the biggest “pump the breaks on rattler” guy around.

But I told my dad this week that I tremendously respect the way he carries himself on the field. Never celebrating little plays or dancing around. Moves onto the next play. Overtly tries to NOT show up his teammates. Stays level throughout the game. I will give him props where it’s due and it’s definitely due in that regard. He’s very self aware and projects a proper image.

I agree with all of this! Spencer has shown a lot of moxie, and he appears to be a good teammate that works hard.

I just don’t think he is the guy. The difference between he and Drake Maye is STARK when you watch them play. Maye looks like a franchise QB, while Spencer looks like a low end starter/decent backup.

Please, do tell. Would love to hear these stark differences. The only stark difference in reference to stat lines was the 3 touchdowns. The common denominator there is talent at receiver. also, the young secondary shitting the bed with busted coverages on 2 of the 3 touchdowns. other than that, Rattler actually had the edge on completion %. Both QBs played a clean game. we once again had too many mistakes and critical drive killing drops. that's the bottom line.

He was extremely pissed at that last drop by Olave. He knows he can't win with these dogshit WRs. We should trade Olave for a bag of peanuts if we can get it because he's worthless yo this team.

Oh he will be. It might not be for the Saints though. Alot of people want him out. Look, he has alot to improve on, but the guy is legit. If he goes to a different team with WRs that actually catch and lights it up, all these idiots that are screaming for Shough will backtrack. Rattler has elite skills in the pocket. Brees level pocket awareness. You can't teach that shite. His accuracy definitely needs to improve, but he's put in situations to tie or win and our trash catchers let him down every time. I don't want to hear it's a touch behind or whatever. He's made the plays. The rest of the team is letting down the Best player on the team. If anyone thinks he's not the best player on the team they're delusional.

I'm. Not say he's he's the best as far QB goes but he's improving game to game. He's doing what it takes. The rest of the team obviously isn't. Put Shough in. We aren't improving anything. And everyone will be clamoring for another QB when that isn't the issue. It's every position on the team that needs to improve.
