Franklin being fired go me thinking. Who the hell set the precedent about coaches getting these insane buy outs for being crappy at their jobs? Makes no sense to me.

Mel Tucker, James Franklin, and Jimbo Fisher all got these contracts around the time Coach O got fired from here because these schools were afraid they were going to come here.

A&M paid Jimbo close to 80 million dollars to leave.

Why are buyouts so confusing?

It’s basically a guaranteed contract. Don’t pay one, and you won’t ever get a good coach. It’s not rocket science.

You can thank Jimmy Sexton.

And all of these colleges that just refuse to say no.

Paying Fisher that kind of guarantee was in itself insane

But what little bitch AD started it? Who caved?

Lester is a moron. You clearly asked who set the precedent. I looked it up and it was notre dame AD when he signed Charlie Weis

Will Muschamp made 22 million dollars total in two separate buyouts. I think it started with him.

CFB programs had nothing else to spend their money on, i expect just like with the facilities, we will see a pullback in this arear or at least will go flat or have better terms.

That tracks. I remember ND giving him an asinine extension after the Bush Push game in his first season.

These contracts will go the way of the dinosaurs. Too much risk, too little upside. What’s more shocking is that ADs don’t get fired more often for these dumb contracts.

If you want a winning sitting HC you have to pay the freight.Eventually the ADs are going to go the coordinator route to avoid the Hugh payoffs.Of course this will piss off fans and boosters ,the very people who hate the big buyouts. The ADs are in a catch 22.

Timmy Chang (Hawaii) is $56,000.

I can literally pay that myself. In fact I might call up the AD at Hawaii tomorrow and demand a coaching change and tell them I already have the personal check written just so I can feel like a super-rich booster for one moment of my middle class life.
