He's an alum and he wins, although im not sure he can carry PSU over the top as his record against top teams is similar to Franklin's- Terrible

Schiano, Danton Lynn, and Al Golden are also alums but dont seem to move the needle much.

Dont be surprised if they make a play for Kiffin, Meyer or Saban. PSU has a massive alumni base and they want to win.

When you fire a coach who’s a few months removed from a semifinal appearance, you’re probably going the up and coming route. Not to mention their NIL sucks

Rule seems to be a guy who takes a dead program and make them respectable. PSU needs someone to get them over the hump. Not sure if that's Rhule

Yeah…I have to think if you’re paying $50 Million to fire a coach who just last season had your team in the CFP Semifinals, then your big boosters have a couple key candidates in mind that they expect you to go get to get the program through that last round.

I bet Curt stays put. He's making almost what Franklin was with nice performance incentives and can do his job without any drama.

Paying Franklin $50M to go away so you can hire a guy who’s in his mid 60’s doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. If they’re willing to pay Franklin’s buyout, I’d think they’re looking to hire a younger coach who they hope can be the guy for 15+ years.

Penn st will not be the job most people think it is.
To get to State College you have to fly into Philadelphia and take a 3 hour drive.

He'll be 65 when the next season starts. If I was him there is no way I'd leave unless they offered a Jimbo style 100% guaranteed deal. Otherwise who the hell wants to deal w/that kind of stress at a place that will fire you for something that would have earned Joe Pa a hug and a pat on the head w/a "we'll get em next year coach" speech?

If one bald Vandy coach didn't work out why not try another.

Or Brent Key.

Maybe 40 years ago, State College has an airport that teams fly in and out of...

Meyer or Saban

Their one chance.

When you combine resources with school football culture, nobody's beating Ohio State on any long-term basis (although with these hedgefund dudes afoot, that can change).

Meyer has too much baggage. Saban is enjoying retirement. Why would PSU blow big money on a 70+ year old?

Someone like Les Miles is needed.

A Leader that can SWEEP off-the-field "distractions" to the side.

As a Husker fan, it’s crossed my mind. He’s a PSU alum and Matt’s history indicates he starts getting the itchy feet after about 3 years.

That said, I think he’d have to end this current Husker season on a noticeable high note (including of course a victory over presently reeling Penn State in a few weeks) to gain the attention and interest from Penn State and their boosters.
