I don't care if you have a grudge against CCA. This is not the time for it. As recreational anglers, we must do something to prevent this further rape of our resources.
The Pogie boats are trying to decrease the buffer zone, and increase their range closer to shore, in contradiction to the agremeent to remain 1/2 mile offshore. Please contact the WLF commission to voice your opinion.
Email the commission at comments@wlf.La.gov and plan to show up 11/6 at the meeting.

So... if all other gulf coast states have banned Pogie boats, why on earth does Louisiana NOT ban them?

Was just coming to post this. Email at a minimum and show up if you can. We should be increasing the buffer not decreasing it.

Louisiana govt and politicians are greasy whores. Resources are for sale to the highest bidder irrespective of damage done in the meantime

Dear LDWF,
It is past time for our state to stop bending the knee to the commercialization of our natural resources for the benefit of a very select few — some of whom appear to be operating at the behest of foreign interests. We call Louisiana the “Sportsman’s Paradise,” yet there is nothing sportsmanlike about permitting commercial vessels to operate so close to the estuaries that have made our fisheries a world-class destination for anglers.
Imagine the public outcry if ten men from Galliano went out, killed hundreds of redfish, trout, turtles, and tarpon, and then discarded them. Those individuals would rightly face arrest and national attention. Why should large commercial operations be allowed to inflict the same harm with impunity?
This practice must end. I urge LDWF to take immediate steps to restrict these operations near sensitive estuarine areas and to enforce existing protections for our fisheries and marine life.

I don't usually support federal bans, however a federal ban on purse seine fishing is overdue.
Maybe because we are the only state with leaders stupid enough to allow it?

So the commissioner of the WLF has directed the decrease in the buffer zone for a vote.
The commissioner needs to go, taxpayers pay his salary and I promise our taxes make up much more of his salary than the pogie boats do.

Jack Montecanto would let them drag 10yds on the beach
Those fkers are corrupt and the board is corrupt.
I have said it before and I will say it again, unless you north La Baws get involved nothing will ever happen. The corrupt S La legs can always count on the guys up north to follow suit because the N La legs have nothing to worry about when it’s a coastal vote.

How is this even possible? What sucks is when the 1/2 mile buffer gets upheld it will feel like a big win to some when these boats shouldn’t be pillaging Louisiana waters at all.

As a CCA grudge holder, I am proud to be a CCA member today.

How many Baws here live north of Ellick?
Might want to contact your reps and give them an ear full. Find out if your rep is on the DNR committee and give them Hell.

Legislatures are putting HB-1 jobs over local native born jobs by siding with the non-US owned menhaden vacuum sucking ships. All they are doing is putting more businesses and people out of business in Louisiana by allowing these boats to rape our coastlines. Fishing guides, marinas, hotels, boat dealers, tackle shops, and tourism are all being severely impacted by this industry. Only a matter of time before they move into Lake Borgne.
