I’ll have to do some research, but this may be the first time since ESPN was added to cable lineups that no LSU games will be shown on ESPN.

This is the worst home schedule I have ever seen. Truly an F U to the few fans who still have season tickets.

Why in the hell are we playing Auburn at 9 PM CT in Baton Rouge?

Poor graphic comprehension on my part - seeing now that it's an away game, but that only makes it worse if it's even farther east.

Sadly, the home schedules for many power conf. teams have been going this way with more and more coaches preferring neutral site games vs. quality OOC opponents. The conference challenges have every other year provided a power conf. OOC home game...but that doesn't help this season. Given the current view of the program and the outlook for this season, I don't think it's crazy to say LSU will struggle to get 5,000 (actual attendance) for any game until Kentucky comes in on Jan. 14th.

I guess the only positive at this point with the schedule is it could give LSU a shot to start 2-0 in SEC play. A&M has a new HC and completely new team, and South Carolina is (likely) the only team that will be picked to finish lower than LSU in the SEC. If LSU can win 11 games in the OOC schedule (not easy, but not unrealistic, even with a poor outlook for LSU) and get the first 2 in conf. play you MIGHT see a decent crowd for the home game vs. Kentucky.

Unless and until then, LSU basketball is going to be a complete afterthought until January. That's not being negative. Just realistic. Wins over Alcorn St., UNO, Tarleton St, etc won't move the needle at all.

Dang what a terrible out of conference schedule. I’m ready for us to beat up on a bunch of nobodies so people think this team is actually good

Not a fan of ESPN but I sure can't blame them for not showing this turkey.

Outside of the usual handful of sunshine pumpers who have attributed the awful results of the last 3 seasons to anything and everything BUT McMahon being a poor coach, I don't think anyone is going to fall for the trap of thinking LSU is good because they are beating some of the worst teams in D-1. The only real opportunity to gain notoriety in the OOC schedule is the game vs. Texas Tech.

The “Time Wasting” period.

McMahon is only here still because we couldn’t afford the buyout. Hopefully this is the last year of this nonsense.

the claim that the team under-performed due to being underfunded seems perfectly credible. having more money for players can often mean better teams, and it appears that the team was underfunded relative to rivals.

LSU would pay McMahon the amount of his contract whether he coached this year or not. I think it was more LSU wanted to allocate the bulk of the available funds towards this football season (namely, signing players) rather than eat a big lump sum and have to commit significant resources to the basketball team in 25-26. The hope being that the return on the significant investment in football this year would be big (championship, or at least a CFP) appearance, which would at least ease some of the demand for next season, thereby allowing the AD to deal with the basketball change then.

Like you said, this is just the "time wasting" period to deal with basketball at a later date.

You saw this in 2016 when it was clear LSU needed to move on from Jones after the long awaited Simmons season amounted to nothing. Yet, because the AD was anticipating potentially having to fire Les after the 2016 season, they kicked the can on basketball for a "waste of time" season (16-17).

Also, don't think for a second the AD didn't want to make a change until Wade was out of the state so he didn't have to deal with the headache of LA people demanding he be rehired by LSU. Believe me or not, but the Governer was (behind the scenes) pushing hard for LSU to rehire Wade after last season.

Yeah well they said this offseason they would be spending big time in the portal and they didn’t sign anyone noteworthy.
