We keep hearing that “we want to establish the run” or “get the run game going”. Well, how do you do that if we keep passing ? Here’s a thought: Why not run the ball 3 times in a row and get a first down or punt ? Play field position with our good defense. If we run more, even if we have to punt sometimes, that’s ok , because their defense will have to actually think that we might be running on a given play, and that, in and of itself , will open up passing lanes. If not, teams will just play rush 3 all night and do what OM did. We really are handicapped without a QB that can can tuck it a few times a game and keep a defense honest.

If they can stop the run with a 3-man front, why would they change their defensive alignment?

This team should be in the i formation until they get running out of the shotgun figured out.

Vs Ole MIss they only ran the ball twice on consecutive plays and one of those instances was the Berry TD.

Cole Cublic has been saying this since last year, its unfair to say they can't run the ball if you don't try.

It’s year 4, I don’t know if Kelly will ever change.

Ever notice how long it takes from once we are set to actually snapping the ball? Ever wonder why we blow timeouts in first 3 mins of the 3rd quarter? Or why we are lined up and set for almost 15 seconds and yet Nuss still hasn't hiked it with 1 second left and we burn a timeout?

Its weird right? Almost like we are changing the play at the line.

True, but you still need to actually try to run it or you’ll never know if they can stop it. Analytics says that you should be able to run it against 3 man front, but you have to actually attempt to run the ball, not just run once and pass twice and punt.

I think you’re right. There’s no priority, it’s just a change up to the passing game.

Kelly took receipts, then he stuffed them in his pants pocket, then forgot to take them out and his wife washed his pants.

Les Miles, is that you. This may be one of the dumbest ideas ever. You want to run the ball three times because you can't run the ball?

Maybe we should go 4 or 5 wide and open up the running game by passing more or at least set up in passing formations more often. Force the other team to get off the line.

Of course if we do this, we need to scheme how to run against a 3 man front (like maybe run outside and have the Tackle block the widest defensive lineman).

Because we can not block. 3 runs in a row might give you 5 yards with this Oline

We actually can, we just refuse not to. What i saw yesterday and listening during this week has led me to believe that despite the technical problems, one of our seriously major problems, is just not running the damn ball more period. Florida has sucked running the ball outside of that FCS school that i had never heard of and their RB being good vs USF. However they ran under 30 times in each game vs Miami and LSU. Well vs Texas they said, frick it. They ran 37 times. Their really good starting RB who had gotten 10 and 12 carries in the prior 2 losses, got 27 carries vs Texas. And no, he did not destroy them. He actually averaged less than 4 yards a carry, but he established the run. Florida established the run. They ran for 160 yards.

Give Durham (if healthy) and Berry 35 carries and see where it leads. Both of those guys have the ability to make something happen and rip off a long run.

That's exactly what Nuss is doing. I've seen that mentioned on podcasts as well.

If you instill a "blow your guy off the line", mentality, they will definitely faie better. I also think they are better in a gap scheme, but right now just getting them aggressive is a good start.

Because Mubenga will be out, i think we need to put Curne in at guard and make him pull a few times. He has a mean streak like Emery Jones.

Do you know how crazy the fan base would be if we were both unsuccessful AND didn't have a sexy offense that at least had the threat of chunk plays?
