I feel bad for the guy because he likely wasn’t doing anything that thousands of voters do every day, but he was probably going too fast for the conditions and he was probably looking at screens and everything else.

Just saw a video of the incident. Viz was clear. The guy obviously was not looking where he was going. Again. I’m sure it wasn’t intentional but negligence is going to be pretty easy to prove it seems.

Bull shite. Thousands of boaters do not collide with other vessels that are stationary everyday. He was not in control of his vessel. He killed people and ruined lives

He was going about 67mph (not THAT fast for a bass boat I know but very fast still) around a turn I believe? The men that passed were in a guides boat and if I remember it wasn’t exactly a small boat. To hit something like that, certain takes negligence. Extremely unfortunate for all involved.

Yeah, he's cooked. There is no justifying that level of dumbassery.

I've bought several new Skeeters with 250 HP engines. On a cold day I can get to 70/71. In the warmer months 67 would be good. What kind of fast bass boat do you have?

Allison? I was a passenger in one and we got around 100. Too fast for my liking.

frick that guy. I just assumed it was a foggy, shitty morning. It was nothing of the sort. No reason at all for this to have happened. Dude had to have been playing on his phone or his graphs.

Such bullshite:

You are in control of your boat.
You are in control of your speed.
You are in control of your actions.

Anything else is simply bullshite and denying responsibility for your actions.

Really? 67mph on the water in a fishing boat is not THAT fast?

Not really. I get there easily with only a 200. I am risk averse and that's right at where I get a little uncomfortable. The guys with 250s and above cross 70 with ease.

Way more models are rated for 250 and above than below. So, you're basically picturing the vast majority of men who buy bass boats.

From the time the bass boat enters the picture in the video the center console should have been visible to the driver of the bass boat. Had he got off the throttle even when entering the picture the boat would have nearly stopped by the time it hit the other boat. He was not paying attention. Or was blind. I would bet he was watching a graph or doing something with a phone. I am sure he hates that it happened and it wasn't intentional but he has to pay the price for ending 3 lives and injuring others in the process. The tournament organizers are also going to wind up paying a bunch or going out of business....its just simply negligence on the drivers part and unless there is some serious objective evidence of the tournament organizer seriously hammering boater safety they are going to be bankrupted. Its a damn shame all the way around.

Man, that's sad. It's surprising it doesn't happen more often with all the distractions available to mariners now.

It looked like they were just sitting out in the middle of nowhere when he hit them?
