when our qb is not a running threat and he's rumored or truly hurt. Never will understand why Offensive Coordinating at LSU is so weird.

Waste of a play everytime they call a zone read. No need for the read, the end is gonna crash regardless and Nuss will never make them pay for it lol

Not running zone read, especially with Nussmeier. Running RPO's.

It's not zone read, it's RPOs. Don't need a running QB to run RPOs.

So funny. These guys think every hand off out of the gun is a zone read.

We may run 2 true zone reads per game, at the absolute maximum.

They hand it off in the pistol formation every time! Really keeping the defense on their toes.

I can't believe we have 14 people on this forum who actually believe we run a zone read.

Sloan is telling Nuss to wait til the National Championship game to pull the ball and run it in for a touchdown. That's the only possible reason it's still in the playbook. It has to be. Right? Hahaha!!!

I would ask you to go through any quarter of one of our games and tell us exactly how many times LSU ran a zone read, a read option, and a RPO. Just out of curiosity

Don’t know why this got downvoted. QB can and needs to be able to pull and run depending on the DE. Always have the “option” to quick slant/flare pass. Obviously has to be quick so Oline don’t get downfield. Whether you call it zone read or RPO is semantics. We need a mobile QB, especially if teams are going to drop 8, which they probably will vs Nuss now that it’s been successful.

That would require coaching of the OL.

We ran quite a few screens against Clemson.

For some reason they have disappeared

If he pulls the ball on an RPO play he is throwing it immediately. If not he's giving it. There is no "looking to run".

He's not reading the DE in RPO he's reading the leverage of the DB's/LB's.

These are 2 totally different things and I get irrationally angry about it .

right. we are NOT running the horizontal RPR option we ran with JD5 and mason taylor.

basic vertical RPO are either handoff or throw. not a Qb run. This board will never get it.

as i stated many times the stuff denbrock ran confused the hell out of posters thinking that 3rd option being a run on the horizontal RPR option is a thing with vertical RPOs. it is not. like we would try something like that with nuss anyway.

Whether the offense is RPO, RPR or zone read you can call individual plays with any concept. We are a RPO style but a QB with some mobility you could sprinkle in zone reads to kickstart the run game, at least down in the red zone, which you can seem to do with Nuss. Also anytime a team drops 8 the QB draws are kryptonite.

BTW, I’m all for Nuss but not the way is playing now, it’s limiting the offense.

I think those are RPOs not Zone Read. Nuss pulling it and running isn't part of the play.

But I agree that a quick hitting zone run might help. Don't hesitate, just get the ball to the RB immediately and remove the read/stutter/hesitation.

I get the offensive idea that they want zones/RPO/PA/Zone Read to all have similar action looks to make the defense think. It looks great on paper. But is clearly not working in practice.
