Anyone know what's up with this? Someone hack it and steal all my kids' college savings?

That's just a little bit alarming.

LOSFA website says they are having technical issues. Phone lines are down too.

That place is a shite show. A few months back they had a deposit that mysteriously didn’t show up for weeks. Definitely doesn’t inspire much confidence.

I wonder if they were hacked. Could be a massive data breach and/or ransomware.

There is something going on with the la.gov websites.

Yesterday I had my access blocked to the DCFS online calculator for a time, basically accusing me of improperly accessing their website.

Hearing there are more sites affected made me go there, too. I'm sure the Landry admin doesn't want to admit to it publicly, though.

Agreed, especially considering this is going on day 6 with no communication or updates.

I was so close to putting my children’s 529s into the Louisiana 529 plan due to the small tax savings, but was worried about things like this and enjoy the ease of being able to see the unique plan on my fidelity app with my other accounts. I just can’t trust Louisiana with mine and my children’s money.

I created an account for my three kids about 2.5 weeks ago and before the outage it still hadnt been approved

I live and work overseas so i actually would get a decent chunk matched by them...

However this outage is super concerning...

I created mine in early august and the first deposit took almost 6 weeks to get approved. Not super concerned yet but this is definitely not instilling confidence

They likely told a staff member to store your monies in her personal bank account until they are up and running again.

Haven't checked mine in a couple of weeks but after the initial period I've felt the situation was adequate for Louisiana.

The first deposit took a while to go through, then it was easy. The website is from the 90s though.

I thought my point about it being hacked and my money being taken was sort of a goof. The longer this goes on, the more concerned I am. The unwillingness to release any information at all as to what is up here, beyond just saying they are experiencing "technical difficulties" (the only place I've even seen that is on a freaking Facebook page) is troubling.

Have you considered contacting your state representative or the state treasurer to see what's the issue?

Next option would be the newspaper/TV. They would love a juicy story like this.

Is there a next best alternative to the LA 529? Is the state tax benefit worth it for mid-high income earners?
